I'm getting the Fumoto soon. Going to run tubing from the valve right to a used oil bucket in my garage. As for the filter, well I learned from someone on this forum to replace the clips on the skirt with magnets. Now it pulls off and snaps back on easy-peasey. Turn the wheel to the right, I can grab the filter just fine.

Sharing some learning here.
I totally buggered the plastic trim rivets for the rubber flap over the oil filter. I found the parts diagram, but the call outs for the plastic rivets didn't have a p/n.
So I called the dealer and ordered some. $8.54 ea. Surprise?
p/n W715694-S300. On my second Google search I found them for <$3.70 ea.

Little tip when you go to move the drain pan from the plug to the filter, center your pan from front to back under this little hole in on the frame rail. I haven’t missed a drop out of there since I figured this out and my drain pan is small. I have a picture and just edited some arrows in to show ya exactly what I mean.

Edit: This is for a 4wd, probably not the same front frame rails on a 2wd, not sure. But once you risk it once you can figure out a spot.

Thanks, that's helpful. I made a big mess the first time.

I let the main sump drain for at least an hour and simultaneously place a smaller catch pan right where you indicated for the oil filter spout to catch drips behind the sub frame...

I gave up DIY oil changes nearly three years ago. Bad spine pending fusion surgery which is now complete.
A local indy garage/tire dealer will change my new oil and filter for $15. I pay them to rotate the tires which gets the LH wheel out of the way.
I had a local hyd shop fab up a drain hose with pipe cap to pass over the skid plate, which I assumed the shop would remove.
When I picked up my Ranger the hose was still in the truck. They said they have a variety of drain trays and didn't need the hose. They also had concerns leaving the hose zip tied to the skid plate since it could fail. ....I couldn't argue with this.

Very good price for the labor to do the oil change.

I'm assuming you supply the oil and filter? Oil for me is at least $30...filter another $9...that's around $40 just for supply and my own labor...

The filter on my 3.2 diesel is in exactly the same place, and accessed the same way, only Ford in their wisdom use a Euro style plastic cartridge filter, so when you unscrew it, it dumps all the oil inside, right onto the front diff and cross member.

Yes, I supply the oil and filter. Guessing at the same or less cost than if the shop provided it. ....I like WIX filters and doubt I'd get one from the shop.
When I was a young 60 yrs old I was still putting each of our vehicles up on stands with floor jacks, rotating the tires and doing the oil changes.
I finally figured that it was time to spend some of the pennies I'd saved with 40+ years of DIY and pay the shop for the rotations and oil changes.

Does that crush washer toward the top left corner of pic come with the drain valve? Is there a crush washer on the factory drain plug? Is it reusable or not (if it has one)? My first oil change on my new to me truck is coming up in a month or 2 & I want to get any necessary parts lined up ahead of time.

This is yhe one I got. M12-1.75 is correct

I just did my first oil change with ValvoMax installed. Piece of cake. I had to use some slip joint pliers to get the cap off but draining was tidy. Slower than with the factory drain plug removed but you just have to hold the drain hose over the funnel of your drain pan for 5-7 minutes or so. Very worthwhile purchase. I still removed the skid plate to make it easier to get at the drain plug & aim the drain hose.
