Looking forward to it! I'm excited!
i'm running the MBRB dual exhaust with a CV down pipe.
Also have a Mitsi intercooler with pipes. and air box.
I hope to get a little extra boost with the tune.
To old for the 1/4 mile deal. But I got 130 on the dash and would like to be able
to do that! (If and when I want!)
Thanks for the positive feedback.
My other Ranger buddy is looking for a big turbo! He is more into the 1/4 deal!
125mph is top speed with the 93 tow/haul tune. 93 performance tune will go over 125. Not sure what top speed is. 128 was enough for me. It was still pulling when I got out of it. Running mud tires at high speed isnt ideal lol. Small local airport was a perfect chance to test it out.

I have the Unleashed 92-93 tune and it's awesome. The shifting is a million percent better than stock and Lucille hauls balls. I haven't used the Unleashed tow tune yet even when towing my tent trailer. No need to but I do use the Rangers tow mode when towing. Torre is great to work with. No regrets at all.
I had Unleash at number 1 till I
found out they had no phone support and email only! Web site was also not to impressive. For this main reason I choose Livernois.

And the multiple threads about it.
And yes I did see the other threads about it!
That was the first tune I researched when I started looking at Ranger tunes.
At that point there was no advantage in looking at the Ford tune for me since most guys are running third-party tunes that is going to void the warranty anyway.
Warranty is somewhat like insurance, depending on what is broke and what dealership you are dealing with it might not be covered!
Just past experience!
Also, if I do something to my truck to tear it up! I'm willing to pay to fix it! That is the risk I'm willing to take.
I think anyone looking at a tune need to weight out to themselves, the risk vs the reward. (If they still have warrantee and want to keep it)

Better go read the fine print!
I've seen a lot of people post this or similar. The fact is I did read the fine print.

  1. If there is a failure within the warranty period and Ford cannot prove it was the tune which caused it, the repairs are fully covered.
  2. If there is a failure within the first 36k miles and Ford can prove the tune caused the failure, the Ford Performance Warranty covers it.
  3. If there is a failure from 36,001 and 60k miles and Ford can prove the tune caused the failure, Ford will not cover the repair.
I have been unable to find any evidence of item 3 ever occurring with the Ford Performance Tune.

And with the exception of the 36000mi coverage. The law requires the same for all tune users. But you have to prove it wasnt the tune.

When I called Ford on this, his comment was:

"the tune is very conservative, we have not seen any failures yet, but, it is a aftermarket modification, any warranty claims past 36/36 are subject to denial if Ford deems the tune is the cause"

This was 2021 when I called, I don't know if they have had any failures since.

What it really does, it puts you in the hands of the dealer and the Ford rep, it could go either way, I just hope it goes my way when the trans scatters and I get towed into some dealership.

If I remember correctly the 3/36 FP warranty starts at the in-service date of the truck NOT when the tune was installed.

Well, mine is a daily driver close to the 36 so I'm going to roll the dice!
I won't be on a 1/4 mile track with mine trying to race everyone from light to light.
Old age tamed a lot of that!
I just want the little extra punch when I need and no govern on the top speed.

That largely describes me, rarely really get on it, but in those rare instances when I need to smoke a taco, I can!

I was nervous about installing a tune especially with only 5k miles on the truck. Now at almost 78k miles I’m so glad I did. I can only think of one person that’s blew an engine with a tune and if I remember correctly it was an oil pump issue. It’s the “I think I threw a rod thread” I’m pretty sure. Might be the longest thread on here?. The better shifting alone is worth getting a tune. My truck gets put through the paces more than most. I tow a lot and long distance once a year, drag trees, drive through mud holes, haul more weight in the bed than I should and definitely not scared to use the skinny pedal when needed lol.

Man, I'm feeling that now! Nervous too!
Not real computer savvy guy. That is why I like to talk with someone over the phone!
I have to do that stupid email support with my POS in my business and you are at there
mercy as to when you will get a response back! And it is never fast enough!
Thanks for the positive feedback.

Already been looking at the instructions!

I went livernoise as well (actually in process, got the tuner but haven’t applied it) saving it for when my warranty finally expires (I have the long bumper to bumper warranty think it’s like 90-100k or something) once that’s up then I’ll apply the tuner since it’ll be out of pocket expenses at that point to repair anything that happens ?. Livernoise folks seem really nice too.
Heard something about livernoise having something to do with assisting in development of the ford performance tune (not sure if that’s true but I’d like it to be ?.)

If you haven't already, go ahead and download the stock tune and send it in. They'll send you the tunes and when you're ready, you can upload them whenever.
