I'm eyeballing a 1.6 NA Miata right now. 1990 w about 35k miles. Looks clean. Thinking about checking it out tomorrow. If I get it, it would be replacing my '17 FiST with about 47k miles on it. I'd come out with about $4k-$5k in cash after all said and done also.

Thoughts?

Wife is giving me a lot of shit. But she doesn't seem totally against the idea.

Go for it. If it ever breaks down, you can just toss it in the back of the Ranger to bring it home.

I've had two 2012 miatas, sold the first one and was the worst decision I ever made.

So last year I found another 2012 and can't see ever getting rid of it..

This is the kind of encouragement I need!

Or toss a 'yote or LS in it!

That's the thing. Unless you do something really dumb with them, 250,300+ k is nothing for that engine/chassis.

I miss my 91 pretty regularly and have been eyeing getting another track rat now that I can completely convert it to not being street legal and can tow it to the track.

Very nice!

My thoughts are with the low mileage on that one a tastefully modded daily would be nice for while. Springs/sways/struts, wheels, tires, lighting upgrades, maybe a hardtop?

Then see what the future brings.

I had a 1995 NA, with a later-sourced 1994 hardtop, for a few years. Fun little car. Sold it back in ‘18. Exceptionally clean, with only some age-appropriate wear on the leather.

Wow lots of Miata owners here. We have 2 NA's, a white '92 1.6 with 172k miles and a red '96 with the "big block" 1.8 LOL. These cars are fun to drive and fairly bulletproof. Getting harder to find unmolested NA's now as many are riced out, and values are also on the rise. I would buy that car if it were me, but you know I'm biased.

Most of the ones I see pop up are pretty clapped out. The mileage and apparent condition (from pics) is what made me take notice.

Mind is made up to at least go check it out in the A.M. after work.

Yes!

I love the NA.
I bought a BRZ, then I found out about HPDE & autoX.
I should have found a 5k miata, put 5 k in mods & saved a bunch of $$$.
Still love the BRZ, both great cars.
