Yea I know but only way to describe it is…when we were kids we put a playing card on the front fork of our bike and it made the same kind of noise when it flaps on the wheel spokes just somewhat quieter. As soon as you let off the gas it stops and when you step on the gas it speeds up. I tried to record it but no luck.
ok guys hammer away..

It's the "go fast" sound track installed in every Ranger...piped through your speakers...most hate it...doesn't bother me....

This is yet another Ranger quirk I want to visit. I don’t hear it.
So I guess a disable is in order to note what I am not hearing.
Play Sesame Street - which one of these things is not like the other?
and yes I too had the old playing cards in the spokes- the joys of youth!:giggle:

Why in the heck would that playing card sound be an option? That's just stupid. I hear no such sound, my fake engine noise is disabled, and I can't imagine fake engine noise sounds like that.

I use that sound as an warning that I've stepped on the gas past the point where my MPG goes from 17 to 7...

My thought is that the actual sound might be the spring return in the accelerator pedal, there was another post about that noise awhile back.
But without details it’s hard to tell, if press pedal with truck off and noise is present then it’s the pedal.
Hmm , does it do it in neutral?
Off the wall - have you changed spark plugs recently?
I have seen/ heard this similar sound, if a plug is not fully seated and air blowing out of the threads.
Another possibility of ratcheting sound is the OAD pulley on the alternator.
Engaging and Disengaging.
Or belt tensioner flexing back and forth.
A sound bite of it may help - narrow it down

I only have 7000 miles on it so no plug change yet. You gave me some stuff to try but no noise when in park running. I will try and capture the noise later today after work. I also will look at forscan to see if it’s there and I can delete it. I also want to delete the panic mode.

You call it an "interior" noise. Does that mean that it sounds like it's coming from the interior or just audible from the engine bay into the interior. 7,000 miles only? That should still be under warranty: 3 years/36,000 miles of bumper-to-bumper coverage and 5 years/60,000 miles of powertrain coverage

Could be the fuel injectors ticking away like a sewing machine
Yes the more I think on this - I believe he is hearing the normal- Hp fuel pump and injector noise , but a sound bite will confirm. Normal vs Not Normal

I hear nothing that sounds like 'piped in' engine sounds, and don't even know if that's a thing on Rangers. Just because there is a Forscan option to turn it off, doesn't mean that it was ever on. Someone would need good recording equipment to prove there is a difference from enabled/disabled, otherwise it's just confirmation bias.
