It's leaves and sticks in the air intake under the hood or a stick caught in the engine bay????

This is yet another Ranger quirk I want to visit. I don’t hear it.
So I guess a disable is in order to note what I am not hearing.
Play Sesame Street - which one of these things is not like the other?
and yes I too had the old playing cards in the spokes- the joys of youth!:giggle:
we graduated to wiener balloons tied to the frame or fender braces. they didn't last very long but gave a mellow Cadillac sound.

My grandkids do this nowadays it's pretty cool!

Ok guys here’s a vid. I’m on and off the gas and it sounds more like crickets in the vid.

Could be the fuel injectors ticking away like a sewing machine

We have a winner. DI injectors are stupid loud. When you're off the pedal (and coasting at a decent speed) the ECU cuts fuel to 0 and hence the injectors are off.

Pull up your instant MPG gauge. When it reads 99mpg your injectors will be off, anything less and there is some amount of fuel flowing. You can match up the noise and that number very easily.

You'll also notice that if you're running a slow speed and coasting down with your foot off the gas that it will fire the injectors a little bit every now and then, probably to keep the engine spinning as the trans is freewheeling.

Amazing that you guys can hear the injectors from inside the cab while driving...I can only hear it with the hood open...the video sounds like car rumbling to me...

Man I wish, I rented two Rangers for work and neither had that noise, but my 2019 with 20k miles sounds terrible with the injectors.

Yup, plain as day in mine. Especially on the last 1/4 mile to the house where it is basically just coasting at about 35mph. Granted, I can't hear them if I'm playing music/podcast, but they are definitely there when I'm radio silent.

Is the noise less if you have the top engine cover?

Do you have a tune in yours? I’m wondering if that would make them more Noticeable

mines got the ford perf pack tune and I dont recall any change in sounds. i do notice under hard acceleration or under load I hear sort of a harmonic noise like a heat shield rattling or something that is nothing to worry about.

I don't have a tune that I know of, got the truck used with 16K miles and it wasn't mentioned.

Does it sound like this?

Finally found it..mine sounds exactly like that at 16,000 miles. I’ve notivpced it before but it has gotten worse. Is that seriously the injectors??
