I took my 2021 fx4 in for it like at 4k miles. first thing they told me was that they needed to change the oil and i would have to pay for that. even though i had changed the oil 1500 miles prior. so i had them change the oil and it still rose to the top dot when warm per the manual or slightly past. The service writer told me to go by where it is when cold, not hot. I reiterated to him that the manual says to check hot after 15 minutes but he repeated himself saying check when it's sat overnight. He said as long as the level is below the top dot when cold, i am good. I can say that the level rose to the top dot and seemed to stop there even when hot and i just replaced the oil after 5k miles on the change they did and the level when first checked was right outside the top hash when hot. Now it's about halfway to the dot dot when cold. It's at the top dot when hot, and the oil has about 600 miles on it or so.EDIT; Has anyone addressed it with Ford??
Please?please.....
at least honda stepped up, fixed the issue, increased the warranty out to 6 years and unlimited miles........
They didn’t fix the issue. We turned our 2021 CRV back in because of it. 3K miles and 15% plus fuel dilution. Two different oil analysis companies same results. Both reported to stop driving it. Dealer didn’t bat an eye about it , gave us full purchase price for it and we moved into a Passport. They had two other 21’s with low miles on their used lot. It’s an inherent design issue. No fix except to modify driving habits.please.....

That’s because there was still plenty of gasoline in the crankcase to lubricate.I seem to remember some old 2.3 four cylinder engines could run without oil, just like the old slant sixes. They used them in the Slick 50 commercials trying to fool people to buy that stuff.
Any engine can run without oil, but for how long?I seem to remember some old 2.3 four cylinder engines could run without oil, just like the old slant sixes. They used them in the Slick 50 commercials trying to fool people to buy that stuff.
This was mostly said in humor but some of those engines ran with barely any oil for more miles than anyone ever counted. I borrowed a friends car in mid 1980's that had a slant six from mid 1970's. I drove about 300 miles with it on a road trip. As a gesture of appreciation I changed the oil for him. When I went to drain the oil not much came out but a coffee cup of sludge and water. When I told him what I did for him he laughed. He said he never changed the oil in it. He looked at the dipstick about once a month and put enough oil in it to show up on the dipstick.Any engine can run without oil, but for how long?
