Is this a stand alone transmission remapping?
The transmission mapping is part of the overall tune. But if you wanted to just keep everything stock with the engine I am sure he could work with you on just transmission changes.

I just had Torrie send me the update file! Looking forward to giving it a drive. I’ll get it loaded up tomorrow. Too cold right now!
Let me know how it goes. Remember the transmission still learns, so drive it exactly like you want it. Try to avoid stop and go traffic, etc. if you can.

I also cleared my KAM and Transmission adaptive memory before loading the tune. This can be done under special functions in the BDX tuner I use.

As many of you know I worked with Torrie at Unleashed on getting the shift strategy better sorted in Normal mode to keep the truck from jumping into too high a gear, lugging, etc. Torrie listened to my suggestions and turned normal mode into sort of a Sport lite that will not have you lugging around in 10 gear all the time. I know some of you with Unleased tunes contacted Torrie about using this strategy and were very pleased.

Well I want you to know that I made more suggestions based on my new daily drive to help Normal downshift better to keep rpms up. Again think of a Sport lite. I loaded it yesterday and tried it today. VERY NICE. Like Sport, Normal now keeps the rpm up a little to prevent lugging onw deceleration/downshifting. It is around 500rpm less than Sport or one gear higher, so not as aggressive as Sport which can often be too much on a commute, but really helps with the frustration of always having to apply too much throttle to downshift because it wants to hang in too high of a gear.

I suggest you contact Torrie and give it a try.
I presume activating the 'tow' mode will simply run sequential through the gears still. I'll have to reach out to Torrie and see what he says.

Yes.

The only tune that has a warranty is the Ford Performance tune which has 3 years/36k miles and that is from the day you bought the truck, not when you installed the tune.

5 Star offers aftermarket warranties with their tunes at a significant additional cost.
No, I specifically asked my service advisor that I have known for many years about this just after I installed an Unleashed Tune and he told me that an aftermarket tune DOES NOT void my warranty. He said they will have to prove that any modification I did directly led to the warranty issue and since dealers make money from servicing vehicles they aren't in business to turn down work / profit. He also said that it helps that we are friends...and said if someone is a real a$$hole about things they arent always as inclined to help those people.

This is the kind of service advisor we all need.

Dave,
Do you have an Unleashed Tune Already ?
Not for the Ranger, it has a FP tune.

I did have an Unleashed tune on my 15 Ecoboost Mustang. I still have the SCT X4 device that I can use so it's just a matter of buying the tune file from Torrie.

This is 100% accurate and the legal law as well.

I think I’m going to name this tune “butter” in my SCT tuner! It shifts great! It was extremely smooth before but it’s even better now. I like how it holds the shift points a little long but not “S” mode long (not a fan of the 3k shift points all the time in S mode). The downshifting kicks in a bit sooner too! You and Torrie did nice work on this!

Unleashed, in my opinion, is the best turner for Ecoboost. Smooth daily driving power!

Question: the ProCal from Livernois allows for other tunes to be added outside of LMS in the software. Could I potentially use it to load an Unleashed tune to try or do I have to buy new hardware?

Very very doubtful. But you could ask.

You can check with Torrie at Unleashed but I’m pretty sure you would need different hardware.

Thanks! That's going to make it wife-prohibitive, but I'll ask Torrie anyway.

Also curious if you had the ford tune if LMS would sell you only their tune since the device is the same.
