The stock drivers side headlight (low beam) just went out on my 2022 XL. Is this normal? I kinda though it would have a bit longer life.

For those that have replaced oem bulbs will a h11 from the auto parts store match the passenger or is it best to purchase a pair and replace both and keep the passenger bulb that still works as a spare?

3 years from a halogen? That is likely not bad at all. Especially if you use them as your Daylight running lights too. Just make sure if you stick with a halogen or Xeon type alternative that you don't touch the glass. The oils in your hands will help burn the bulb out sooner.

I replace headlights in pairs. Then keep the one good one as a backup usually.

I use the Sylvania Silverstar zXe Gold lights, I get about 1.5-2.0 years out of them, not using them as DRL either. They are about as white and bright as I could find without getting into the cool blue color. DOT approved too but I get flashed on occasion by people, usually when driving in the middle of the desert so its likely peoples tired eyes to blame.

I tried LED bulbs but I felt that it was a bit too much/blinding for others in the Ranger housing.

Be thankful you don't have the Ford LED lenses, or you would be out a LOT more $$ than simply replacing a bulb. Bulbs can not be replaced in the Ford LEDs and they are obscenely expensive.

Whenever I replace automobile bulbs, I do it in pairs (sets).
And as noted earlier, dont touch the bulbs with bare hands.

Depending on how much you use your headlights, that’s normal. Average lifespan of a halogen lamp is 150ish hours depending on brand/model. For all models and brands, brighter light = shorter lifespan. Especially If you keep them running during the day.

I always replace both sides and keep the old one as a backup. Plus, bulb color slightly fades over time along with brightness. They won’t match if you only replace one.

I have never gotten more than 1.5-2 years out of halogen bulbs in this truck. I've resorted to keeping a spare set in the glove box. As others mentioned, I always swap them as a pair. I used to keep the still-working one but I prefer not to have to cram my hand into that tight space more than I have to.

I won't put LED replacement bulbs in due to all the challenges people in this group have talked about with incorrect aiming that blinds other drivers.

I'd be willing to completely swap the assembly for aftermarket LED lights but I'm too lazy to pull the whole front end off to do that swap.

Halogen bulbs do age with time so it is always best to replace in pairs.

And, do yourself a favor. If you want to go to LEDs. Spend the extra money on a new set of full headlight assemblies designed for LEDs. Putting drop-in LED bulbs in an assembly designed for halogen bulbs will never give you the correct light distribution. There is no way a couple of LEDs on both sides of a flat plate will give you the same light distribution as the 360 degree light of a halogen filament. Drop-ins will always give random light flares. The other drivers will thank you.

I'm trying to get this model installed today. I currently have nicer adjustable LED bulbs in the halogen housing today(aimed lower for other drivers), but I noticed a issue where low beam on one side occasionally cutting out on long roadtrip when used with the high beam. Hoping everything goes smoothly, as it was a open box buy from that Headlight Revolution store.
