I bought the XLT over the Lariat purely because of the gauge cluster. I wanted the analog tach/fuel/temp. One thing I wish was an option is the led headlights. I’ve already priced the lariat headlights with ford and they’re $1500 each! Anyone plan on aftermarket lights? Ford really should’ve used at least projector halogens in the XL and XLT.

I also prefer the XLT gauge cluster over the Lariat! I will probably do HID's if they are applicable, and I'm not paying the Ford price for the LED headlights

Yeah HIDs would be nice, but a proper projector set up is a must. HIDs in reflector housings produce too much glare and light bleed. Looks cheap imo also.

Ahh...good point, didn't think about the reflecting. I'm sure come companies should have some good options for us...hopefully anyway.

I ordered some whiter bulbs for now, and we'll see what happens later.

There are aftermarket lights out there for global Ranger, and they probably would fit...but I don't need my Ranger wanting to a Mustang. When you see them you'll know what I mean.

Snap a pic with the newer bulbs, if you can. I'm still waiting for mine to be delivered...patiently waiting...

Take into consideration that if you purchase the mustang style lamps(that fit the Aussie Ranger) from eBay, the beam pattern is likely to be for a RHD vehicle

Great advice. I never even thought of that.

Got the new headlight bulbs in. These are Philips Crystal Vision.

You can see the difference here.

I take it you’d recommend them? I may order some of these. What’s the bulb size anyway?

The downside to these bulbs is that they don't last very long. I've replaced them 3 times in my Honda. You sacrifice longevity for brightness. They do provide a nice bright light however.

I ran them in my Focus ST for a few years and they never burned out.

Main bulbs are H11. Fogs are the same size, if you want to order the same. I'm going to add yellow tint to my fogs over the weekend. High beams are a different bulb too, I forget the number.

Interesting. I do use my headlights a lot, but even on the package they say that longevity is shorter for the brighter bulbs.

I took a look and the normal Crystal Vision ones are less than OEM, but I was thinking of the Xtreme Vision ones - this is from the Phillips website - the back of the package:

Crystal Vision (~300 hours):

XTreme Vision (~150 Hours) - these say they provide 100% greater light

Headlights are getting too bright blinds the on coming vehicle. Nothing worse than a tailgater with bright headlights.
