After some searching and buying some bushings, I settled on Superpro greaseable for the front eyes. Took a couple of weeks to get them from Australia. Since I already had the ARB/OME greaseable rears I just stayed with them. If I could start over, I would buy the complete kit from Superpro. I like how the grease fittings are protected by a recessed bolt head. If you have an air chisel the front stock bushings come out quick.

At $230 it seems on the high end of expense. I wouldn't question the quality - Dobinsons looks the same quality but $100 for the bushings, $90 for the shackles and even that seemed excessive for me.

For the moment I'm leaning towards the Dobinson bushings and six grade 8 RockJock greasable pins with the factory shackles. Something around $150.

It would be nice to have a specific kit for the truck but the $100 difference justifies putting it together myself.

There are less attractive designed bushings and cheaper kit components but I'm not as confident in the overall durability for my use. The SuperPro recessed grease pins are definitely a desirable feature.

I'm not going offroading but the intermittent towing/hauling and the truck being a daily driver is guiding me.

EDIT: I don't know if I can swap the pins in the factory shackles yet. Gonna have to crawl under there and look.

DOUBLE SECRET EDIT: the factory shackles can't be modified but the $90 greasable Dobinsins are available for US spec.

Hi John,

We have a saying at Ford. If God wants to punish you in your next life, He will make you a shackle bracket. They have a very hard life.

Best,
Phil

Sorry, yeah, the truck was an F150- I wanted to do it to my Ranger Tremor too, but there’s no such thing.

I emailed Benny at Levittown and they discount the Tremor U bolts significantly - but as someone else said the Rough Country set of four with new nuts comes in at less than half. I ordered a set.

The only size lengthwise from RC are 9.5 inches where I believe the monoleafs are 6.5. The Tremors may be shorter and look better so if the extra length in the RCs bothers me I guess I can cut the excess off.

Follow up question: when I was on the Rough Country site the online 'advisor' pointed me to the 3in ID/9.75 in Length bolts and I ordered them but everyone here is saying they got the 7.5 in long ones. Is the ID actually less than three inches?
IMG_20230131_113407986~2.jpg

Or are these the ones I need:

Did y'all get SKU 7668 or 7604?

I have the 7604 ones which I believe are the correct ones. I haven’t installed them yet but I believe you need the 2.5” ID and judging by your pic that is what the stock ones are. So 2.5 ID with the 7.75” length.

Looking back at page 4 I went with 7604.

The drivers side with the shim is a perfect fit the passenger side has about a half inch of extra thread with the RC ones I ordered.

Well, I followed the thread long enough and they are back on eBay. Looks like I have some work to do beginning of March. Thank you all for the info, part numbers and experiences!

Last time they were not available for very long, ebay stopped shipping to US addresses, they have to be losing money on shipping.

I sent back the RC U bolts they (incorrectly) told me was the dimensions and to their credit they paid return freight.

I saw someone else say they ground off the pin in the bottom of the springs which I think is the threaded bolt for the U bolt plate? Is that really necessary? If the US monoleaf has the bolt I would think it has the pin. Are those for the shims?

IMG_20230211_113203653~2.jpg

Quick edit: referring back to this diagram it appears so (see #6). Now I wonder if aftermarket shims in a broader range of thickness could help fine tune the left/right heights to make the truck 'more' level.
Screenshot_20230131-213245.jpg

Double Edit (to add): I see that angled shims are available for the purpose of adjusting the transaxle when changing the height of the truck (not sure if that applies here) - does that need to be considered? I suppose only if you get longer shackles?

I put the shim on the drivers side back how it was with the new springs.

I didn't have to do anything with the pin but I did have to take the spring saddle off the stock springs an put it on the global springs. It was a PITA but it holds the U bolts in place on top.

So I thought. The way they are mounted across the pond is different than here in the USA.

I'm guessing the shims in both sides will be used, but got to thinking if the thicker springs alter the rear suspension geometry it might change the alignment not just the rear but the driveshaft. I'd seen wedge shaped shims primarily for lifted Rangers and wondered if it is something to factor in.

They are mounted slightly different over there, the U bolt plate is on top and the rounded U bolts go around the axle with the nuts on top.

If you have any thrust angle issues usually loosening the U bolts and shifting the axle is plenty of adjustment.

It may have been mentioned before about checking drive line angles and possibly needing pinon angle shims.
