I appreciate the reply, I think you are right about it being an injector issue. Just gotta get the dealer to work with me! Fortunately it does not get very cold where I'm at in West Texas, but I do travel up to Utah and Colorado where my wife and I are from pretty frequently. Looking forward to getting some oil test results back to see just how bad it is.
I would definitely change the oil! I know I’m late to the party on this post but I’ve had 3 ecoboost vehicles now and every one of them wreaked of gas in the oil when I changed it at 5000 miles. I’ve never ran a catch can but always changed the oil religiously at 5000 and always ran synthetic oil and Wix filters. It’s sorta like Ford saying the transmission fluid is good for 150k without servicing. They are in the new car and service business not longevity of your vehicle so I was told long ago. Oil is cheap and so are filters. Feel the same about the transmission. Every 30k new fluid and filter.

Just a small update. Taking a short road trip this weekend and since I was cleaning windshield and filling washer fluid I figured I’d check the oil. It’s slightly above maximum, not as bad in winter, but is definitely still overfull and the moment I went to wipe the dipstick I could smell the gas. I folllowed the recommended oil checking procedure in the manual before someone asks. At this point I just shook my head and closed the hood. I believe the fuel does not burn off like some had said here, or if it does, it is constantly leaking in. Ford is gonna have a hell of a repair bill eventually, especially since they are calling it normal.
On the bright side the Bosch envisions I installed this past December are doing awesome still! Also I forgot how easy the air filter is to check, only one hose clamp and three levers, not 6 or 7 screws like my old focus! What a love hate relationship.

You are one of many who have this problem while Ford is running circles around us with their "Oil Consumption" tests, feeding the wrong database in the system instead of turning toward its customers with the solution. I say at least extend the warranty instead of kicking us around waiting for the factory warranty to expire (as in my case) nd then throwing us under the bus.
I dropped a line on this forum to connect with me on this Fuel Dilution issue. Anyone who wants to go for a fight for our rights. It will take a group of five to send a main wave in the right direction, yet no one seems to care. Riding this out, sucking in that Fuel Dilution is >2.% and a flash point is well below even Ford's standards is OK will leave us without vehicles.

It's so the attorneys handling the class action suit make millions.... while each plaintiff ends up with a check for about $1.75. Eight years later.

Only in America.

Queue the lawyer jokes....

Edit: FYI my comments were responding to a previous post. Appears that post is no longer here. Just in case folks are like "What the hell is that idiot taking about?"

Again that that 2 or 2.5% was randomly selected before direct injection became common. I would stick to 5K oil changes an I might get worried if I got a report 5% or more. There's probably rangers out there that have never had the hood opened other than their 10K service at the dealer running around with 100K on them. Ya never know.

a year or two ago i made semi cheeky comment about fuel in oil being normal for direct injection style engines and not to worry. im sure i added some sarcasm. another person in the thread was offended and told me to leave his thread in a rude way lol. being kind, i did. Now time to point out that said member is still driving his ranger with the fuel in oil all these miles later and no report of issue or failures. while it may be petty - I must thank him for proving my point.

Many are out there (Including myself) with the Fuel Dilution issue.
Hello everyone with fuel dilution of critical level (>2.0%) contact me ASAP to join our efforts to file a claim to defend our customer rights. We need at least a group of five.
I have tests that show over 2% fuel, but before I sign on I need to know what the claim is.

I think for most people you are correct, what I fear is the damage long term for people with high dilution Percentages. I don’t think it’s something that will kill the engine immediately, but I think it will be the root cause of cylinder wash down on these trucks for the people with high dilution percentages. I may be bias as I am one of those people, but with the way two dealers and ford handled it after telling me they were extremely concerned, it’s hard for me to believe they are not trying to sweep it under the rug. I would be thrilled if they just said “hey we are going to do a dilution test and get it analyzed”

Pretty laughable that my post got deleted ?

I have a feeling that poster IS the lawyer trying to self-serve.

The thing is Ford is “trying to sweep it under the rug” by reimbursing you for rental vehicle expenses while Ford’s Field Service Engineer (FSE) is performing tests on your truck which never include “Fuel Dilution” terminology. It will be called the “Oil Consumption Test" which is plain BS and not a safety issue, thus to avoid the possibility of a massive recall which NHTSA can impose on the company if we, Ford Ranger owners, get on this together and submit enough complains addressing FUEL DILUTION in our vehicles. Go to https://www.nhtsa.gov and REPORT A SAFETY PROBLEM. It only takes a few minutes to type in the complaint. What’s to lose? I want my truck to be healthy and in top-notch condition. Fuel is a lousy lubricant. We’re killing the engines in our Rangers while Ford is twisting the legality frame letting it happen.

I was at 2% too, Now I'm with Fuel% = 5.5 and a flash point 104.5C!
Go to https://www.nhtsa.gov and REPORT A SAFETY PROBLEM. It only takes a few minutes to type in the complaint. Make sure it is FUEL DILUTION. Refer to my Complaint Number: 11594530, submitted electronically to NHTSA on 6/15/2024.
Good luck. Together we can make a difference. They need numbers to hit the Ford.
