Oil level is staying steady
Oil has just the slightest smell of fuel

I will keep an eye on it.

Was that taken on a cold engine? Looks a little high, above the top hole. Should be down in the hashed area

I will agree with you on that. It was still a bit warm from when I had it running.

I was surprised when the instructions say to let it sit for 15 mins before checking the oil (after letting it get up to operating temperatures) - copied from the owners manual:

Switch the engine off and wait 15
minutes for the oil to drain into the oil
pan. Checking the engine oil level too
soon after you switch the engine off
may result in an inaccurate reading.

My understanding is the top holes is the max fill point and the normal range is the hatchmarked area. Lower hole the min level.

Every vehicle I have owned the dipstick had a full mark & a low mark. The full mark was always obviously full, low mark meant you need to add. Any wear in between was usually safe. To me safe is full, max protection, not over or under. Generally with the older cars if you have one that is on the low mark & add a quart it was always on the full mark. I have not had to experience that with any modern cars. Just my 2 cents worth. I know don't buy much nowadays.

Engine oil will expand when hot. Not as much as trans fluid but it will if your checking it when it’s hot it will show higher levels then what it is.

also if anyone is having their oil changed at a ford store. Just keep in mind dealers will pump an even 6 litres and call it done as the ranger takes about if I remember exactly 5.74 litres. I do the same when I can’t my oil 6 litres of amsoil and done.
