The report says "where the front lower control arm ball joints may have been incorrectly installed or repaired "

Could be that it wasn't torqued properly, or that the ball joint isn't seated correctly in the LCA.

I recently had a recall on my Kubota RTV. The upper ball joint bolts were never tightened and the front wheels could flop over causing death or dismemberment 😲. Do not drive warning. Apparently they had a torque tool that wasn't calibrated for over a year 😬. Mine were definitely loose. Post pandemic quality is affecting all manufacturers, not just Ford.

if I remember correctly you had quite a few issues with the RTV, hopefully all the issues were fixed (on kubotas dime).

After learning from @P. A. Schilke about some of the tech built into assembly line tools to track use, time of use, etc., this kind of thing shouldn’t be happening.

Incorrectly installed or repaired. Trying to wrap my head around the word repaired. Does this mean after the incorrectly installed was incorrectly installed again they had to reinstall it again the correct way. 🤔

Sounds like it! At this point I'd want to get it fixed at my own shop because obviously they're too incompetent to fix it right after two attempts.

Now ask yourself, If you went to the Dr and he messed up your procedure and then messed it up again would you let him try and fix it a third time

Maybe Ford should tie some of these assembly line errors to their next UAW negotiations. If they were errors made by people, dock their pay....

That was the first one and they couldn't fix it so eventually they took it back (I sent emails to all the corporate officers in Japan that seemed to help get things moving finally) . I paid the difference and went with a diesel RTV replacement. The diesel one sucks also. Will only go 18 mph max on level blacktop and they said it's normal even though it's advertised to do 25 mph. Dealer didn't want to mess with it because you give it more speed but loose the low end torque and it can barely make it up my back hill anyway. Post pandemic quality with excuses again. That's why I just bought a Kioti tractor and Huayee excavator instead of another Kubota machine after years of being loyal to the brand. Not one problem with the Kioti or Huayee yet.

In a way that's what they're finally doing now. They should've done this right from the beginning. Why wait YEARS to reach out to your suppliers especially when it’s costing you billions of dollars. I know when I had issues with a vendor I went right to them to discuss what the problem was and to see what they changed (if anything) and how are they going to fix this. If they couldn’t (or wouldn’t) fix it I moved on to another one because it’s costing me money and I’m in business to make a profit. It's Econ 101 which you’d think Ford would’ve realized years ago.

Ford Tells Suppliers To Fix Their Issues Or Face The Consequences

According to industry reports, Ford plans to place suppliers on stricter multi-year cost reduction agreements while increasing pressure on quality control targets. Suppliers that fail to meet those expectations, or refuse to cooperate with Ford’s demands, could eventually be replaced by competing parts manufacturers.

Ford Wants Suppliers To Prioritize Quality

Quality control has become one of Ford’s biggest headaches. The company has repeatedly topped recall charts in recent years, with many of the latest campaigns affecting some of its most important and profitable vehicles.
One recent example involved roughly 180,000 Ford Bronco SUVs and Ranger pickups recalled because seat bolt assemblies were not properly torqued before installation. The issue reportedly originated at a supplier facility before the components ever reached Ford’s assembly line.

Wow - that’s ridiculous. Don’t blame you for changing brands I would have done the same thing. I did the same thing with Ford. I know most of kubotas smaller offerings are made in the US while the compact and up tractors are made in Japan - that may be why my tractor has been nice so far. I also haven’t had good luck with dealers either - but I don’t know if good dealers exist anymore.

My loader and bucket is made in the US and it is much worse in terms of QC, it’s honestly crazy the difference. The welds, paint, and fitment are much worse than the tractor welds, paint, and, fitment.

What Kioti did you end up getting?

Same here - the biggest reason I went with Kubota at the time is lots of dealers and proven track record (which appears to be not so much anymore). The closest Kioti dealer is 2 hours away, they dont have a ton of dealer support up here it seems.

At least Ford owns up to a recall, my experience with GM is really bad, MIL's 2015 Buick Regal, occasionally the brakes GO TO THE FLOOR you have to use your toes to get behind pedal and pull it back up, and they will work normally again. Because the car still stops when condition occurs, GM refuses to fix it as its a TSB, not a recall, but $1800 will fix it if you bring it to the dealer! Im certain if this condition occurred in a Ford product, they would have fixed it long ago as a recall.....Screw GM.
