Honestly ive slowly come to terms with EV, but they couldnt have at least made it their performance ev truck?

Seems weird how they just made it an entire brand of truck, even if the name sort of fits.

Jim Farley is just goin unoriginal, but seems to sell well so cant blame him that much.

I dont even think people remember the Tremor being a performance street truck, and now its an off-road package.

I'm warming up to them more and more too. I'd still like to see longer mileage out of them especially for towing. I'm sure as technology advances it'll happen soon enough. For now I myself would stick to a hybrid and patiently waiting to see the next gen Ranger and what it has to offer.

I would love if the ranger raptor comes with a 3.0 hybrid, extra instant torque then have the extra mpg bump. Would like to see a push more towards that vs pure EVs cause our grid aint ready for it yet.

I don’t know, for me EV is still in its infancy. That much for a vehicle that the battery might last 6 to 8 years before the total charge starts to diminish. Then for someone like me the cold months of the year just subtract that much more of total distance from each charge.

Now that that’s been said energy prices are not going lower. I lived through the 70’s shortages and that did change the dynamics quite a bit. I came across an electric bill from 10 years ago of mine and shook my head. We’re getting fleeced now and it will only get worse as demand increases. So go buy your electric cars, and Chinese solar panels and knock yourself’s out. Once people realize the real carbon footprint for one of these things to be made they might think differently.

Yes that is way too much money for a truck. It won't have a SCAB version either. I would possibly like the hybrid version of the Ranger. I don't need a huge truck no way.

At least the base model is $39K so you can get into an EV for a relatively decent price. But I agree I could do a lot with $80K and buying one of these isn't on the list. Charging for me is almost free as I have solar at my house and I'm at the break even point this year. It does 100% of my house and all I pay are the taxes and fees which average $16.50/month. It was well worth the investment .

I'm more interested in the Ranger hybrid which I really hope comes out next year. If they can just get a little more distance out of it it'll be a home run. But you gotta start somewhere and hopefully these will improve quickly in the next few years.
Got my eye the hybrid Ranger also, especially if the Ho & torque numbers are what they say it will be. Realistically my next vehicle will be constrained to my budget which is much less than $80k

Crazy thing happened...I watched the video the other day and then had a dream I bought the $80K Lightning. In the dream I drove around in my Lightning picking up scrap metal to take to the junkyard to help pay for my truck. Then when I dropped it off I got a flat tire because of all the scrap and screws in the yard. Woke up feeling really defeated until I realized I didn't own that thing.
