a buddy got the email, I have not. I bought mine like a month before he got his. I think this is only being sent to people who have the VIN that matches the problem batch. We shall see.

I don't have any issues, as of yet. Occasionally, I have a problem where CarPlay won't connect. I usually have to turn the truck off for 10-15 minutes.

Thanks, I tried all of that, it's dead dead.
Mines dead too, $1200 to fix it a year ago. It's nice but not that nice

checking in.... has anyone taken their ranger in for the recall and has it actually fixed sync issues? I received an email when this post was created and just today received usps mail from ford about the recall.

Got the snail mail version of this just last week. I have the issues that started with that bad version of Sync.

Have to bring her in for a few oils changed anyway (doing first rear-dif change also now that I’m at 100k kms).

Hope they can do this re-flash or whatever it is to fix at the same time.

My truck goes in for this this morning. I’ll post info on my experience and details later. I took a picture of the About Sync screen so I can compare before and after info.

Mine has quit, but I have not gotten notice. Reset seems to get it going again. It updates “sometimes.”

2 1/2 hours later Sync 3 update is done. According to the service advisor guy it took longer to work it in the que than to update it. Hopefully it is problem free now.

Ford sent me an email about installing the latest Sync3 update, I'm still on the version that came with my 2019 , it is missing a good deal , has anyone upgraded and was it worth it and is the system still slower than molasses in Jan ?

I guess I should be expecting an email since I'm on the original version too.

On my 2013 Hyundai the cost for upgrading the NAV was $80 , which I balked at paying for many yrs and bought a garmin instead, a few months later Hyundai offered a special price of $25 to upgrade, they send you a micro disc which initially failed . Ford's sync 3 is much better except for how slow it is. Now I have an RV and wanted to use the Garmin for their RV NAV but can't be done, if Ford's upgrade is too costly I'll just rely on google.

I have found the latest update (Build 23188) is rock solid.

It finally is! Once I was finally able to download it and the Ford CS rep walked me through it everything has been working great for a month now. I was even forced to do the newest IOS app update and that even works well, even shows my location correct. Maybe Ford finally hired some new IT people?

One oddity I still have and it may not be a Sync 3 problem is I have a wireless Bluetooth adapter (CPLAY2air) so I don’t need to plug in my phone every time I’m in my truck. There are times when I’m navigating with CarPlay and I also plug my phone into a USB port to keep it charged on longer trips the infotainment screen will freeze but the phone is still navigating to the destination.

Im wondering if it could be my wireless adapter, further troubleshooting will be needed I see.

A two-bit guess on my part, but when you plug in to USB to charge the phone, the nav sys can't decide which "usb" connection to use as they are both connected to the same device, causing issues. I would unplug the wireless-USB when using the cable for charging.
