On the online junkyard sites they have Ranger factory e lockers with the brakes attached for like $1500. Some of these are real low miles too.
Yea I saw those. Price would have been the same more it less.

Yea that is an option. I just don't have room for a rear end to be sitting around, and I'm kinda committed to this at this point.

Well, what i would try and do is......
See if the factory button control option feature will fit in the place if the one you have already. If not, and had the money, i would buy the console and factory button controls. Hopefullyit all fits and works. Then just run wiring directly to the elocker. No bcm or anything, just an on off button but with the factory look. Run wiring next to facory wiring in a wire bundle protector tubing stuff. Dont know what the tubing is called. Hopefully its that easy

Body control module. Ford has control modules to run everything, radio, seats, windows, ac, mirrors. Ford likes modules. Basically its a mini computer that controls the features on out trucks. So you hit the tow haul mode button, the bcm(small computer) makes sure all is right in the world then sends signals to the computer(ecm) and transmission (tcm) and tow haul mode is turned on and working. So if the factory wiring goes to one of these computers, it may not have the programming or chips to run the elocker. So a manual on off switch would be the next best thing. The computer systems of the truck wouldnt have a problem of both wheels spinning at the same time. That being said, the computers would have no nannies to keep you from turning it on or automatically turning it off. So you would have to be careful about turning it on and off or have some way to show if it was on or off. Led on the button for on? Amber or red in color.

Gotcha. I'm probably(definitely) in way over my head on all of that. I have the switch coming, I'll ask the guys installing it if they can get it to work. If not, I'll just return the oem switch and go with a dash mounted switch the locker comes with. Would obviously be nice to make it all look tidy and get along with my existing controls, but I can live with it the other way too. Here is a pic of the switch I ordered, and my current control layout.

Thanks I hope too. I'm not even sure there is a connection the wiring from the locker would be able to plug into on this switch. I'm still trying to get my brain around it all. Maybe if I brought it to a Ford service center they would help?

Even if your truck didn't come with a locker it still has the fuse and relay for one. But the rear wiring harness will be different. To use the factory button swap out the switch on your console and use Forscan to turn it on under BCM and IPC modules. Then tap into the wiring harness under the cab to power the locker.

Hey all, this is probably a dumb question on my part, but I am now reading that I will need to replace my ring gear and pinion as well? Is there anyway around this?
