Too late lol already ordered it:crazy: I don't mind the price much... I only say that not realizing there's a wireless one with a scanner for $40 more :headbang: oh well, It is what it is.
I don't like to mess around with wireless when flashing things (even though this is a bit different than flashing). I got my wired USB with hs/ms switch for 6$ shipped. I've been using it for two years no issues.

I agree with not using wireless when flashing things. But, a good quality wireless like an ODBLINK MX is fine for Forscan. Stay away from the cheap China clones. I use my ODBLINK for Torque and extra gauges as well as Forscan and have had no problems. Just be sure you backup your as-builts before making any changes. Can't stress this enough. Once changes are working as you want, backup again before making more changes. I have 3 or 4 versions of some of my modules.

Forscan has a new update with a GUI section for the ACM which has a switch to turn off the fake engine noise. It's all over the Forscan thread.
Can you put a link in or show me how to do it? I looked for forscan but cant find it. I've never used forscan so any help would be appreciated

Pick ACM module configuration, then select the option that sounds like enhanced engine sound, and select disabled.

If you don’t have that module or the option, you might need to skip loading the vehicle profile at forscan startup.

Disabling the enhanced engine sound using FORSCAN made a really big difference for me. The cabin of my Ranger is definitely quieter and the stereo sounds better.

I disabled the fake engine noise over the weekend and also noticed a big difference. Major improvement in my opinion. I honestly don't know why they would incorporate this into the truck, but am glad there's a way to disable it now.
All the engineers at Ford Corporate are "old" and want to hear a big V8 rumbling under the hood, this is the next best thing they could come up with. Even the V8 Mustangs have it (because they are pretty quiet engines in stock trim).

Should have piped in the sounds from a V-8!

Makes me think that pranking someone with a 2003 Civic with a fart cannon or possibly a Toro weed eater would be hilarious. Count me in on this ?

Did we confirm whether or not disabling the fake engine noise also disables the noise cancellation for the microphone in those Rangers equipped with the mics?

Downloaded current Forscan beta, installed and turned off the enabled sound enhancement. I "believe" that the passenger compartment is quieter and I can actually hear more 'outside' sound. Engine/exhuast don't sound as deep/bassy now. Have a road trip coming up, will see if I still believe that afterwards.
