wow some really good info here. I will have to look deeper into some of these .. my current thought is to go with the Blackvue 770 set up. but that may change after looking at some of the others mentioned here
I still have my other Garmin dashcam...it's tiny but only covers the front...I got the Wolfbox mostly for the rear camera that I mounted at the very rear of my truck so I can see a lot more...I might turn the Garmin to cover the interior...

Little late but this is what it looks like. I ran the power along the pass-side A pillar, behind the glove box and poked a hole out by the 12v supply.

That s where I was hoping so wouldn't obstruct my view. Should be here end of the week. Thanks of rite picture that really clarifies.

Anyone made adjustment on the G850's voltage protection point module? What "any keys" are they referring to? I've asked Wolfbox but they don't know what I'm asking...

I'm late on this reply - I also have a standard mirror, so no tapping any power up there (I also have the 4" unProductivity screen).

Were you able to just shove the wiring in or did you have to fully remove the pillar trim? I'm worried about busting clips ...

I'm also thinking of a longer cable so I can connect to my Scab's behind-the-center-console 12V (no one rides back there and it's fully covered by my dog's bed - not that he has the good life or anything!). And maybe also have a rear cam.

Any advice is greatly appreciated (especially from a fellow Scab Ranger!). =)

I unscrewed the 'ohh shit' handle on the pass-side and removed the A-pillar trim. Went back together fine. Ran the wire behind the glove box and out the back of the 12v power connectors.

David @subquark I just found this video and I thought you might like it as it compares all the Viofo dash cams. I didn't know there's a newer one out the A 139 pro which has a new Starvis 2 sensor. It gives you better low light pics and they have it in 1, 2 and 3 channel cams. I like the 2 channel 4K and I'm going to dig into that one a little more now. Hope this doesn't confuse you any more.

I have a dash cam from my old vehicle that gets its power from usb. I dont suppose there are any USB ports inside the dash area? If not I may have to get a splitter for one of the existing external ports.
I really wish all auto makers would include a USB port somewhere around the rear view mirror mount. It would make so much sense.

To have a dashcam run 24/7, there would need to be two power sources...one connected to ignition and the other always on...that would be tricky for an usb to do...

What ever you get, just be sure it's 4K. I had some regular HD cams in my old car, and upgraded to 4K in the ranger. I used one of the old cams to point backwards.

I have seen a cam that has an available power adapter that goes under the dash and connects to constant power and switched power, so it can record with vibrations, or maybe motion, not sure.

I also think the non NA rangers have a USB on the side of the box thingy behind the RV mirror. That would be nice on the 6G.

My Thinkware U1000 can be powered by a single cord (OBD power cable) and also run the parking mode. What's nice about this is if you're at home it's easy to reach down and unplug it so you're not filming your garage wall for no reason. lol AFAIK it's the only one out there now that can use a OBD cable for this.

I just had mine put in. I went with the Blackvue 770. I paid the extra to have a battery added that runs the camera at night and it recharges when the engine is running. now all I have to do if figure out how to get my phone and iPad to connect to it consistently.
