And there are 2 - 3.5" speakers under the grille?

Is there a connection in the back of our radio to the center speaker? Wondering how is the Lariat center speaker wired to the radio?

I would assume lariat has a different amp. The speakers are a different brand. I bet the amp is too

Correct there is no plugin for the center speaker at the mounting area in dash. Did not feel like disassembling the dash to see if XLT head unit was capable of plugging in and activating a center speaker.
Started all this when I thought rear drivers side speaker was blown. Upon removal notice that they used minimum adhesive between speaker material and plastic frame from the factory…

No it has its own screw holes located in dash. Grill is stand alone function only.

Check Crutchfield site for 3.5 speakers that will fit. I ran speaker wire on the XLT to front passenger kick panel and tied into door speaker. Order speaker grill for 8 speaker system to replace solid dash piece….
