Your wife would be wrong.

Firearm and "tactical" stickers scream "there's something valuable in here. Come take it."
I agree with this....I want a Sig sticker on my window but don't want to advertise. There are places you can't carry into an have no choice but to leave it in the truck.

Is it really an issue?

Or do the local news stations hype it up and pass the same bullshit story around the nation?

Despite the news saying it's an issue here I've yet to hear of 1 individual I know who has had this happen.

A quick Google search shows Denver had 15 stolen in 2019, 257 in 2020, and so far this year 108.

Not something I'm going to waste my time worrying about.
It happen today to a co-worker's mishubisi suv at work in a well lite area with a lot of traffic. Our work is a fairly nice area with little crime rate.

My wife’s thought is that a Ruger sticker on the back of a vehicle may help with their selection process.
Or it could be a signal that there might be a firearm in the vehicle, inviting the thief to target you.

I steer clear of stickers in general. But I wouldn't put any firearms related stickers on a car.

I personally don’t do the sticker thing. Gives people I don’t know a view into who I am and what I like. The Ranger is enough of an advertisement by itself :)

Has anyone looked into something or some way to prevent or at least deter the theft of the Catalytic Converter on our trucks? As they're typically easier to crawl under, that makes them more attractive to thieves. CC theft is high where I'm located, and as my truck is lifted I really don't want to come out to it being stolen. I'd rather pay to deter someone from stealing it then pay to replace it.

Sure, it would provide a performance boost without it, but I'm not trying to take my truck the route of stripping off all the stock components just to achieve it.

Somebody's local news channel is running the story about the highly organized international cartel of methheads roving the streets.

Next up, car theft from copying your keyfob's signal.

Unfortunately meth heads are known for their high level organizational skills.

Thanks for everyones updates. I tried to find some back story by searching first on our forum. I wasn't aware it's very difficult it access, so that at least gives me some peace of mind.

Thanks again!

Like others have pointed out, the location and orientation of the Ranger's cat minimizes the chance of cat theft.

Here in Ventura, it has become popular to run around with the sawzall, cut off the easy to access cats, load them up in a Honda Civic, and head back to Oxnard or Los Angeles.

Our neighborhood got hit last Summer in an organized way with multiple thefts. Usually we deal with the more random and sparse one or two cats missing, but once in a while we get the gang treatment.

I think we have prevented them from targeting us by using floodlights and cameras. My Ranger lives on the street and have not had any issues.

This weekend I Installed this Catstrap and Cateye system: https://www.catstrap.net/ on a family member's Ford. It has dissimilar metal cables in a webbing that adheres to and runs the length of the exhaust. Hard exhaust clamps, metal zip ties, and heat activated adhesive are used in securing it. The Cateye is a motion activated alarm that is set off by sustained movement under the car. The Ford I put it on has enough ground clearance to slide under, has an exposed cat, and gets parked in bad areas during the day. If the gangsters or fentanyl fiends really want the cat they can endure the alarm and work their way through the strap. All I am trying to do is make the vehicle a harder target.

For my Ranger I won't be worrying about cat theft.

Nothing but a FX4 or aftermarket skid plate will do the trick. They only bring the tools to saw the CAT, they won't have the tools to take the bolts off the plates. They will go to easier targets. Truck has been peeked at underneath by a meth head at 330AM, they instantly moved on to an easier target. I have video images of this, just too lazy to find the thread/photos.
