Yeah I'm going to do that on my commute, I have one of those IR things. There's probably some sort off liability concerns on their part with defeating a "safety device."
Looks like if you really want to you'll have to stick with the short button push to turn off traction control or long push to turn off AdvanceTrak and traction control.
Personally, I wouldn't worry about it too much. My biggest concern about it is the ill effects of using the parking brake on hot brakes. Luckily most everywhere I park is flat enough that using the parking brake is not needed. The additional wear and tear on the rear brakes doesn't concern me too much. But I do think the days of doing the rear every other brake job are long gone.
If I had one of those nice IR temp probes I'd do an expirement. I'd leave the house on cold brakes. Drive a nice spirited loop of about 15-20 minutes. When I got back I'd check the rear brake disc temps. I'd then repeat the same loop, at the same spiritedness level, but with AdvanceTrak and traction contol off and measure again. I think the results would be interesting and it would help you decide of you think turning them off is beneficial to you.
Come to think of it, my Fluke probably has a temp setting and probe. Haven't used it in a while, might have to dig it out.
For sure. I just have the luxury of parking in flat lots and garages. The only time I stop on an angle is on the odd trail here and there. That terrain is usually low speed and the nannies are off.Yeah I'm going to do that on my commute, I have one of those IR things.
When it comes to the parking brake I'd rather use it on hills and wear the brakes then not and wear the transmission when it lurches in park.
Holy crap. I know inflation from when I started until now makes a lot of difference in pay, but holy crap. I worked at a small city dept. (It's grown now). When I started (1972) the city couldn't afford 4 new tires on the cars. To save money the put recaps on the back, and the new ones on the front. Thankfully they were able to buy 4 new ones shortly after I started.LEO's around here (NY/NJ) don't need part time jobs! Not if they've been on the job for a while. I know a small town Lieutenant that just retired......last year's salary was 227K.
I have heard of this. People somehow hacking your key fob. This is going to sound way crazy, but the cop told me that they broke in using some high tech device, apparently they can unlock the vehicle and lock it?????? Anyway my truck wasn’t the only one that was broken into that night.
To make sure I'm up to speed here...The truck was locked when I came to it, it unlocked so that’s why I was confused, anyway this has nothing to do with the turbo blowing recently js. That incident happend I paid for the new turbski and insurance ended up reimbursing after looking at the police reports and sending a adjuster out.
Bought the rag and it came with a free tailgate dampenerPerhaps so.
But which mod was it that included the rag?
I want to stay far away from that one!
Knock on wood, I'm at 42K miles and zero issues with either the Turbo, Engine or tranny! Only problems have been with the battery. I am on my 3rd one! Anything else done was software refresh or updates.Okay I just want to see if I’m the only person experiencing this. Last year 18June2021 someone must have been in the process of removing my intake but must have got spooked and ran off, anyway the next day I started up the good ole ranger drove about a mile boom lost power turns out there was a rag in the turbo. I paid $3,7898.39 for ford to install a new turbo and clean the cooling system, since my warranty would void if I took it else where or just removed the rag and had them clean it. So fast forward to today I was going on the on ramp heard a metal clank followed by a huge puff of smoke. The turbo went out, truck only had 23k miles took it to the dealership they won’t be able to do anything for about 3 weeks. Truck has a few tasteful mods: intake, exhaust, intercooler with piping .( which had been installed since I bought the truck). Anyway just seeing if anyone has ran into a blown turbo issue.
Good news. What bolt has a cotter pin in the exhaust stream?Update!!!!!
so the dealership in AK forgot the cotter pin causing the bolt to back out and eventually getting lodged in the turbine. They are fixing it under warranty.
Yeah there’s no cotter pin in the turbo. Great mysteryNo idea I didn’t think the turbine had a cotter pin holding it together??
There is a c-clip on the actuator rod ends. One visible from passenger side wheel well. Could be what they were referring to?No idea I didn’t think the turbine had a cotter pin holding it together??
