My truck is buck central too. 2019 XLT, 18k km.
From park, put it in drive but keep the brake on; not going anywhere yet. Buck.
Foot on the gas a little bit, but change my mind and have to brake instead. Buck.
Cold weather. Always buck.
Any gas pedal pressure that isn't 100% steady and smooth. Buck.
I've been blaming it on the computer learning up until now, but I dunno might be other factors.
The computer learning is without logic anyway. It makes it so the driver has to drive the exact same way every time, or the computer doesn't know what to do. Or a different driver.
How come the truck has to anticipate my decisions before I make them anyway? Doesn't Ford know that God invented sport mode for a reason?
Something about line pressure and spooling the turbocharger. Ok, but what good is decent acceleration if it's delayed anyway? So why not keep the turbocharger only for sport mode to keep it spooled always and take it out of drive mode.
So Ford can fudge the gas economy numbers, that's why. Same reason auto start stop can't be latched off. So Ford can appear green, putting a cheaper 4 cyl lawnmower engine in the truck, but still getting to say it has good performance. It only has good performance because of the turbocharger/10 speed transmission combo. But the computer evidently can't handle it. So Ford looks good and the Ranger owner gets screwed.
My stance is Ford has been building transmissions for a hundred years, and they still can't get it right? At a $50k price tag, I'm being a beta testing guinea pig for a new kind of transmission? How bout no.
