Currently have Fox 2.0 coilovers on my 2021 Ford Ranger. The clilovers have 70k miles on them so they are due for replacement. I found the below Bilstein coilovers minus the upper assembly for a reasonable price. My question is can I use the Fox upper assembly ( where the three bolts stick out and mount to the truck) with the Bilstein strut/spring. I believe the Bilstein is meant for OEM upper assembly. TIA

Hey Eric,

Just curious why you wouldn’t have your Fox 2.0s serviced/rebuilt. I think they call for it at 50k miles. I’ve kept my OEM shocks to avoid downtime when that day arrives.

A very valid question... I left my OEM shocks in my parents garage for that exact purpose... but they got thrown out by accident. By my math getting the Fox shocks rebuilt would be $500 bucks, plus shipping both ways and however long it would take for them to be rebuilt with the truck on blocks. For a couple hundred bucks extra I could get a new system with no truck downtime.

Now I dont know shipping cost for send in 4 struts, but id imagine it wouldn't be super cheap plus sourcing a sturdy box would be a factor. Maybe somebody can chime in as to how they shipped theirs ( cost, weight of total package/dimensions) and downtime. Im not against sending them in for repair, but would be extra logistics.

I get it. Too bad about your OEM shocks. It’s tough raising good parents these days.

;)

I’m hoping to find a Fox trained technician in my area to do mine. I’m not sure what luck you might have in your area but there are a crap-ton of shops rebuilding Fox snowmobile shocks in WI that might be able to point you to a garage that does truck shocks or maybe put you in touch with the area’s Fox rep.

dgun18. Tremor Owner here as well. The 6112 setup is even cheaper ($665) on Rock Auto. To get all the new upper bits for the 6112 I ordered two new OE quality quick struts from rockauto at the same time and just disassembled them.
There is no point to rebuild the Fox 2.0 due to down time and cost. Plus their life span is pretty crap compared to the Bilstein Products. The Fox shocks on the rear of my Tremor were cooked by 35k which is really poor performance for what my truck sees.
*I haven't gotten the chance to install my 6112 yet.
*Make sure to mark the top hats on the donor coilovers to align on the Bilstein.
*I put Bilstein 5160 on the rear from rock auto ($200/each) and they're way better than the Fox 2.0 ever were.
* As far as I can tell setting the 6112 collar to 0.8" will match the factory Tremor Lift. I plan to set mine to 1.2 for just a touch of level while avoiding forcing the spring preload real high and keeping the damper mostly centered in the ride zone.
