The hunt is still on, I went to my local 4 wheel parts today who said they'd be happy to test fit tires and when I got there, they had a change of heart and didn't want to put anything on the truck other than the stock size unless I bought a lift. So, I will happily not give them any business.

Yes. See post 42 on this thread. About a fingers clearance from front of tire to crash bar, but no rubbing.

Well we squeezed 255/80/17s in the front. Finger of clearance at full lock and mild compression. May rub at full compression, so we will see. I'll attach photos when I get home

How is the E tire on the Ranger? Worried about the ride quality, but need to capacity for towing. Wish I could find a good D rated tire.

Factory Hankooks aren't even rated high enough to tow the max

The truck is slower now, but the suspension feels less darty. Mine felt over damped from the factory and now that has gone away. Going to put 600 miles on it today and will report back

I have E rated tires on mine now. Still rides great. A little stiffer but hardly noticeable.

Before cutting the crash bars try using a hydraulic ram to spread the bars out for the additional clearance.

I have BFGs KO2s 34X10.5X R17s ( Load Range D) on my vintage Bronco, actual diameter on 17X9” rims is 32 3/8” diameter. This “pizza cutter “ style tire may be a good fit, with minimal trimming, since it isn’t as stiff as Load Range E.

I also have ST Maxx 285/75/17 ( Load Range E) on my Super Duty, actual diameter on 17X8.5 Methods is 33.5”. These tires are the toughest / tallest on the market (Load Range wise) , and are also a little more aggressive than my BFGs ATs. Hope this helps.

Goodyear duratrac tires have a d load range.

Anyone out there tried 265/70/18? Comes out to 32.6 tall and 10.4 wide (stock width).
This is a 265/70R17 it is 31.6 Not much room left.

This tells me that the 255/75/17 should fit with no issues.........
