Think I've got the first signs of my battery going south

2nd unrelated I've found a 14eee foot causes a engine power reduced error due to breaking. This foot size easily hits both the gas and brake pedels.

I get this message once every few weeks, especially if the truck sits for a day or two without use. Has happened pretty much since new. I plug a trickle charger in now when I know I am not going to be using it for a few days.

I have only had mine go into deep sleep while sitting for extended time but I have had issues with remote start from ford pass on cold mornings and also the auto engine shutoff not working at all. I upped my battery charge percentage from 75% to 85% using forscan, this resolved all of the issues I was seeing.

Seen sufficient number of similar posts to the extent that BMS maybe should be renamed Battery Mismanagement System. I went for the gusto and force a 100% charge on my lead acid buddy and it seems to be liking it.

I also upped mine to 90% with Forscan and I no longer have any issues .

I had been seeing the deep sleep mode on my truck recently, but I have also noticed since the cool weather kicked in(Phoenix Area) the engine auto Start Stop wasn't engaging regardless of drive time. Checked the display on the dash and it always said Disabled due to Vehicle Charging. Had the battery tested, it was bad. Truck has less than 10k miles. I replaced the battery, everything is working as it should now.

I have come to believe that the BMS was a misguided attempt to improve theoretical MPG that had the unintended consequences of reducing battery life and causing multiple phantom issues due to the battery running on the ragged edge of proper operating voltage. It may be a viable system but when you set the maintenance level to 70% you stay close to problems all the time. Upping the percentage to 90% + seems to fix issues for most and will likely improve battery life since AGM's are not meant to stay partially charged.

While I never got this warning, or any warning at all from my app. I did just have to replace the battery. I started off by not doing the Auto Start Stop anymore, I didn't really think anything of it. Then it started having problems starting first try, no matter the weather. Then it just quit out entirely. This happened over the course of a few months. NAPA battery tester wouldn't even work on the thing for whatever reason, this could have been user error. But no issues since buying a new one.

I think mine is on the way out too. Touch door locks stopped working, except for the driver side front door. Also the radio only plays for a very short time after turning the truck off. Put my battery tester on it and it says Good-recharge and it is at 72%, so I'm doing a trickle charge to see if it takes it. Hopefully those functions come back and the battery holds a full charge. I just don't drive it all that far now that I'm retired.

The same items happen to me Tommy. I put a trickle charger on the Ranger for a few days and now everything is working as it use to except the Auto Start-Stop.

Just checked on mine and it's all working now. Didn't check AS-S, since I've had it disabled right after I bought the truck. It's funny this didn't start happening until right after I had at the dealer for the yearly oil change and tire rotation. Wonder if they did something to run it down. :)
