What's the contacts in the fob look like? Any sign of corrosion? Clean them up and retry.

A message came up on the dash indicating my battery in the fob needed changed. (Interesting. Didn't know it would do this.)
I switched to the second fob (which has never been used) and all is good. I'll need to get batteries sometime. But for now...

Wait a week and see if it goes away. It's software.

I think we are seeing the lifespan of the key fob batteries. Did mine a while ago.

Replaced mine at 2 years, 8 months. No message but it got to where i had to be much closer to the truck for it to work. New battery and everything is back to normal.

When I was working and using my truck for work, I was in and out of the truck a lot and the fob got plenty of use every single day. The battery didn’t last long and I replaced it with what I had on hand - likely an Energizer battery. It eventually failed and I bought some Home Depot brand (HDX) batteries because they caught my eye at the checkout and the price seemed so good.

Never again! They might be fine for something that doesn’t get used often but it seemed like I was getting the low battery message monthly. More than once, it was only days later. I now have Energizers in both - the unused ones ended up in the recycling receptacle at Home Depot.

@Grandaccess said it best a couple of years ago…”don't get a battery from the dollar store next time.” Good advice Robert.
