Back in the 70's I wished for an overdrive in about everything I owned . You could actually buy a universal one out of the J.C.Whitney catalog but I never forked out the $$ . Now we want to get rid of a few gears ,lol .
Apparently if you wait long enough, the 10R80 gets rid of a few gears all on its own... ?

If you don’t like gears 7,8,9 or 10 put it in sport and control it yourself ??‍♂
You could also just lock them out in Drive and not be bothered with shifting.

We'll have 32 speeds by the time the 7G comes out.?
If they can make a CVT that can handle more than a couple hundred HP (and that still fits inside the frame), that's where they will be going next.

By the way they behave sometimes (gear skipping) I have to agree...would have been all over a 6-speed manual if they offered one. I dream of picking up a 6-speed off a wrecked mustang 4 banger and make the conversion. Would have to source a bunch of parts from ROTW rangers (like center console trim, etc)...ah to dream!
That and My 2017 ford F150's 6 speed mated with the 2.7 got similar fuel economy.

*Summertime reports incoming*
I get 18mpg city on ranger(2WD), if I'm light on throttle. F150 I'd get 17 to 18 city... Did I mention it was also 4WD?

This should not get the same MPG as the ranger

I think Ford going to axe the ICE within a decade or two...

Might be a little longer, but ultimately yes. Everyone will.

Thanks Dan. I’m right at 37k and similar problems with you. Might have to ask them to check my transmission valves. Except mine likes to hang in really low speed as well. Like 1-10mph slow pressure will make it feel “laggy” when I apply throttle. Please update if the valve change fixes everything. It’s been really bugging me but waiting for more data to bring to the dealership.

My truck shifts hard occasionally and typically when it's cold and going easy on the right peddle. It actually seems to shift super smooth when I hammer it!!
The only time these consistently shift excellent is at 50-100% throttle.

But I wouldn't dare smash it cold when pulling out of the driveway on the first run thought the gears though. Who knows just what that would do if it decides to do the fun "I don't know how to shift if I am cold and this is the first time I have shifted today" BS.

It seems confused at low speed and sudden throttle lift...
