Not sure if this has been brought up but...is it possible? What would it take to make this happen?

@AirborneRanger was doing this a few years back. Frame extension, springs, wiring, brake lines, driveline, and on and on.

I was keeping an eye on that one. I think he walked away from it before starting and sold the bed (and truck? ??‍♂) to raise funds for something else.
That’s the truck I want though - 4 full doors and a long-ish bed.

Not sure I'd want to cut and weld the frame. you would really need to stretch the wheel base and everything that goes' with it. Really messing with the integrity of the truck.

likely more trouble than its worth but totally possible i think some of the overseas models are optional with 4 door and six foot bed.

Money and skillset and anything is possible, but with that said...

Stop your sillyness - either get a Raptor or ZR2. Current Ranger's have their limits man!

Kill that brain fart...I forgot the beds are made for same short WB...if Ford had made a long WB for both, then a bed swap would be just a bolt on...oh well...

With all the effort to swap the bed, would a flat bed not be a more straight forward conversion?

With a flat bed you increase carrying volume over the standard 5 ft bed and it is that much more customizable.

Easy peasy - gotta think outside the bed box.

Why only extend to 6 feet when you can easily have 10 feet of bed with very little modification?

By the way, your welcome! =p

Frame stretches (and bobbing) are relatively common in the truck (specifically truck conversion) world. I think a VERY competent welder can handle it pretty easily in a couple of hours. But you'd have to extend all of the systems (wiring, braking, etc..) and have a new driveshaft fab'ed (relatively common).

DO IT! DO IT! DO IT!

Hmm, we see M100s converted as overlanding trailers and this gets me wondering what this setup might look like in a 5g version, complete with tonneau, bed rack, RTT, and spare mounted on the front.

Has anybody seen one online or in the wild?

In the Bible it says 'Through money, all things are possible'. (I know that's not the real Bible quote)

You could do it, and make it perfectly safe, but it would take a lot of money and skill. If you need a six foot bed, buy a truck with a six foot bed. That's my opinion.

I’m just gonna put it out there, ask it.

Why?

With this forms threads mostly referencing the seemingly far too many problems with this truck, even thinking about something like this seems ludicrous.

Mostly because it was late at night and I didn't think through the implications of my question lol...to address the question, "why"...only to be able to cap it and turn it into an instant camper...I'm getting too old for the RTT...

That said, I have other solutions to the hard side camper on a 5' bed...like this slide on that extends past the end of the bed...

This dude has a nice layout, tor a tacoma... ?

Seriously though, the more I look into rooftop tents, the more I lean towards a topper like the topo topper, or lone peak...
