2022 Lariat SCAB bed is shifted to the drivers side about 1/2 inch from the factory. Also the tail gate gap on the sides also appears to be mis aligned. It clears the passenger tail light about 1/8”. Is this something that a warranty claim would cover? Or is what is expected from Ford quality control?

Hi Mark,

I would recommend a trip to the body shop. I do not believe this is within spec... Also open up a formal complaint with Ford Customer Care.

Best,
Phil

Thanks the replies. Don’t know how to tell if it’s the cab or bed. Hopefully the bed.
Phil: the body shop you refer to is the dealership shop or Independent shop?
Going in for my 1st oil change soon so I’ll report as thinks go.

What I have noticed is there are two parts made of aluminum that seem to commonly not fit. The hood is aluminum and the tailgate is aluminum. And on my Lariat both are misaligned. It makes me think it has something to do with that, but I am not sure.

Getting 1st “service” on Friday. Going full synthetic. They Say they can’t look at the customer service complaint until mid August.
I’ll telling you, the consumer sure has been pushed to the back burner on warranty issues. I wonder If that’s the same with the electric cars?
Like my battery is not holding charge and I can only go 50 miles.

To me, that says, “we are extremely short on people who are real mechanics“.

I think I would try and find another Ford dealer within acceptable driving distance.

Progress so far:
1) filed a formal complaint with Ford customer service 7/11/22 by phone. No confirmation response.
2) visited dealer today 7/15/22. Sent me to the on site collision center. Spoke with the manager. Said they probably couldn’t do anything with the bed alignment as this is how it’s mounted to the frame at the build common problem. Said usually people don’t notice this. Can’t do anything about the problems until it’s brought through service and registered with ford for the repair to happen.
3) He sent me back to service department and they made me make another appointment for this Monday morning. They said I need to leave the truck there for at least a day. Had to complain to them about missing work and no transportation. They agreed to get me a rental car for the day.

The saga continues.
Another issue: don’t update the ford app before attempting to use them.
I Updated the app just before using them for a service and it wiped the points from the account! Had to pay on a card. Checked the app once at home a few hours later and guess what, the points are back.

Mines off about the same , not a fan of it but no way I'm gonna have them pulling and pounding and loosening things to try and align, all while they are mad at you for being so picky. . . ( their words , not mine) the cure might be worse than the ailment...

I’ll need to think about that one but definitely the tailgate. Those lights are not cheap and being so close it’s bound to touch some time after the warranty is up and break the light.

Got the Ranger back from the dealer. Luckily they had a body shop on premise. Truck bed was realigned and centered on the frame. The tail light was realigned so it lines up with the bed quarter panel. It does protrude somewhat on the outside now but I think I can readjust somewhat within tolerance.
They also resealed the recall on the windshield.
took 1 day for the repairs.
overall happy with the job and that they provided a rental for the repair time.

Fit on these trucks leaves much to be desired. My tailgate is way off, and the drivers door needs alignment as well. There's no excuse anymore. I can understand a 50 year old vehicle that when assembled didn't have the tolerance capabilities- but in 2022? Its pretty annoying.

I'm scared to look this close. Looks great when I wash it and look at it from 10ft away. Glad they sorted it out for you.

Mine had the same issue with the bed and the cab not aligned on the passenger side just like yours. Complained to the dealer and had an appointment with there body shop. The said they could not fix it. Did they move the cab or the bed?
