BMW #2.. lolz There's a reason why most people lease them instead of buying. They turn into absolute money pits after 3-4 years.
People lease them because of the price point. It’s true they cost more to repair on average, but BMW has been a reliable brand for a number of years. I have a 2017 X5 that I bought new. It’s 5 years old and has 85,000 miles and I haven’t done anything but change the oil and buy tires. Still has the original brakes. Amazing engine and tranny combo. Best all around car I’ve ever owned.

Before that I had a 2009 335i that I drove seven years before it got totaled in a rear end collision. Had the coils replaced at about 70,000; otherwise it was flawless. And, wow was it fast and fun to drive. Favorite car I’ve owned.

I didn't realize their quality had suffered so much in recent years. If you had asked me 6 months ago my plan was to buy a new Frontier towards the end of 2022. But things changed and I am now in a "21 Ranger and it seems like that was the right choice!
Plus you bought the right color.

Interesting that Buick an Chevy are rated so far apart when they sell the same cars with different badges on them.
Buick is always near the top because old people only drive them to the post office and back home.

"See my Buick hasn't needed a thing in eight years!" (has 11k miles on it)

The majority of those consumer reports surveys are done by older people anyways. Buick beats Chevy because Chevy is pulled down by the not so great ratings of the 1500 and Colorado pickups. JD Power does do a study on 3 year old vehicles. The initial quality surveys seem worthless.

I had a 2016 Frontier, yes some interior quality control issues for sure, but man that thing was bullet proof. I beat the crap out of that truck and it kept going.

I love my Ranger but having some buyers remorse with the driveline vibration issues And clunky transmission. Hopefully when Tom Woods releases their new one piece drive shaft for these trucks I can love my ranger again

Here is CR reliability report based on actual data for those who are interested... I do own a Ford and it's not my first but I'm not married to the idea that they are somehow inherently better or worse than a Nissan nor should anyone else be. You guys have had luck it seems with your Rangers. Mine has been a total piece of crap. It doesn't mean I'm going to just dismiss an entire brand. We've had Fords in the family for a while now and I respect the brand a lot. I also respect what Nissan (which is not actually owned by Renault) is doing right now. Individual results may vary as they say. Not trying to stir the pot, just sharing the evidence.

Before you put much faith in a CR chart, you should ask Phil what he thinks of CR and their "pay for results" reports.

See my approach on this would be different. I would call Ford customer care and explain the situation. Do they have a dealer locally that has the proper equipment to deal with this type of problem. Who would you recommend going to? Your VIN already has service records that show an issue. So, I would stay on them until it can be resolved properly. Am I missing something?

They won’t do anything about my driveline issue because I leveled my truck. I tried going in today to get my transmission checked out, even though I had an appointment they turned me away saying they don’t have techs available because they’re backed up. Ridiculous. Going to try another dealership

I think letting a car sit all the time an driving it to the store an back is the worst thing you can do to a car for long term reliability. While it is great for the looks inside an out not circulating the fluids an getting everything up to operating temp is worse than driving the crap out of them. Again just my opinion an I know what it's worth. One guy I worked with thought a lot of Toyota guys an others that swear by their preferred brand's reliability records don't report little crap. They bought it for the "resale value" an why drag it down.

It didn't look too bad exterior wise. But at the 4x4 highest trim level price, I rather get a Ranger. More mod support, better transmission, better interior, better styling, and most importantly, better community. :handsinair: :turkey: :sunglasses:

Old cars used to be like this, I always let mine warm up but the new ones actually advise against warming up now. Could be environmentalists putting words in car journos mouths though. I make use of that remote start every time.

I looked into it a bit more and one of the reasons seems to be Buick only made cars and recently small CUVs, while the other big companies all have trucks and big SUVs, which have lower reliability and drag the score down. So Buick will beat the snot out of GM and even Cadillac has the Escalade.

Maybe I expect too much...or know/understand too little.
Just tried to build a 4X2 Pro-X...nothing particularly fancy in any direction.
$39K.
Geez.
Pro-X 4x2 $38,570
PRO-X Convenience Package
Technology Package (PRO)
Off-Road Style Step Rails, Crew Cab
Electronic Tailgate Lock
PRO-X Mud Flaps (4-piece set)
Carpeted Floor Mats, Crew Cab (3-piece set)

Only $1900 more than a Ranger FX2 with a similar option pkg with a 3.8 V6

I built a pro-x as well but added tech, convenience and premium packages as well as a few minor things. Came out to about $43k

I ordered (in real life) a 2wd Lariat with mostly similar features and all upgraded packages for about $41k.
Only about a 2000 dollar difference but you’re getting some cool things like 360 camera, moonroof, fender flares and blistein suspension already included

Premium Pkg is like $2900, so that's about $41,400. Not sure what other options you configured. But 40+ is getting up there.

I loved my 2012 frontier and never had a problem with it in three years of ownership. Mist of all I loved the size. Now it is going in the "Look at Me, i’m BIG and BAD" mold of all the other trucks. Was waiting for the new ones to come out but got impatient and bought my Ranger. Please ford stop growing the ranger, the one I have is bigger than my 1992 F150.
