There were no fireworks near us for the 4th (we didn’t want to get to the ones in Tucson) so we drove to Tombstone, AZ for the day which is about 90 minutes away. We’ve been there before but that was 8 years ago and it's an old western town where they still have dirt roads and have mock up shootouts at the OK Corral. They had the town all done up for the 250th celebration and had a Twilight Parade from 7-8 pm with the fireworks right after. Met a lot of great Patriotic people there and a really nice couple from Long Island, NY who we hung out with at the fireworks.

I took the backroads there because it's a nicer drive through an area that's still hasn't been built up with sprawl and is pretty desolate with a few horse ranches.

Tombstone is a very small town (pop. 1,400) and has one street (Allen St) still a dirt road and mocked up of what it looked like before the huge fire in 1882 which occurred on May 25, devastated much of the town's business district, destroying over 100 buildings.

They has a small parade from 7-8pm with a police escort which everyone was cheering and nice to see.

Fireworks were from 8:15 - 8:45 which were longer and better than the ones at the casino.

It was a good day! It was a long day because we got talking with the people from NY and didn't get home until midnight. Then I had the roast I had to get ready to go on the smoker once home. lol

See when you finally move down this way you guys can take day trips over there. I know how bad you want out so yes, I'm rubbing it in a little. 😁

Looks like a fun night. One of those characters even went full-on Curly Bill.

We went there about 4 years ago. That place is a lot of fun. On the ride back, I was thinking how nice it was to make the 300 mile trip in an air conditioned car on paved roads and not on horse back like they did 150 years ago.

I can't even imagine doing that on horseback but they didn't know/have anything different. Plus it wasn't as hot back then with no urban sprawl.

Annie made a similar comment on our way out. We took the backroads in 83S - 82E - 80S and I told her they'll be saying the same about us in 100 years. "Can you believe those people use to drive cars" while they're flying in their space vehicles. o_O

Kind of seems far fetched but just look at the Jetsons cartoon. They had robots, FaceTime and a home office and now we have and use all those things.

Pushed it to the limits.

Good job, Kramer! I had mine down to 12 km (7.5 miles) and I was getting a bit concerned. I think I was paying more attention to my Google Maps and info screen than I was to the road ahead.

Dare you to go 0 miles to empty. Did that once or twice with my 2020 ranger. Pics here somewhere in the forums.

Triple dog dare you.
🤔 If you keep going will it go negative?

Parked it as far from these guys as possible…

Although, of the eight trees they took out, they could have dropped any of them between two parked cars. 👍

Some of the trees were very close to the house but it was no big deal for these pros….

In the process of having seven removed here. All good size Ponderosas or bull pines depending on what you want to call them. They had to lower most of the big branches with a rope and zip lined one of them to the chipper. He's going to drop them into 12-16' lengths to be hauled off by a truck for free since they can be taken by the truckload to a mill. No damage to anything so far and I won't have all the pine needles and cones to pick up anymore. With the wind storms we've had I don't need these falling either. When we have the the money the other four will go, too.

These were all dead ash trees (ash borer) except for one tall cedar that didn’t make it through a recent storm. It was only being held up by other trees and had to go. It was very interesting to watch these guys work since they couldn’t get their big bucket truck in and had to climb and top most of the trees before they could drop them. There is a gulley with a creek beside the cottage, which created additional challenges so there really is a lot to it - very impressed with the skill these folks have.
