I get the system turning off to save battery power notice on the display screen several a week ever since the truck sat for eight weeks during the transmission saga. The alert chimes are weak sounding at times so I wonder if the battery is on it's way to the graveyard

I think the AGM batteries are good for about two and a half years?

First one went 2.5 years the replacement from ford warranty lasted 1 year and no warranty on the replacement ford put in. Just installed battery 3 at 44 mos. Hope this lasts longer. Oh I upped it to the lariat h7 battery hoping for longevity. Bought the sams 3yr free replacement.

If it's the original battery chances are it's on its way out. You could try charging it and see what happens. 8 weeks is a long time to let it sit without either driving it or having a maintainer on it. I only drive mine a couple times a week and they're mostly short trips so I have my maintainer on it all the time.

Those certainly sound like some of the typical warning signs. My first battery went abruptly before it was a year old - no warning. Replaced on warranty in the summer of 2020 and still going. Others have only lasted a few years.

I guess it’s anyone’s guess how long they last but it’s likely time for both of us.

I never had low battery warnings, but I think I did have strange chimes once or twice on my last battery. Only thing that was noticeable was that ASS never worked in this truck... and only started working a few drives after fully charging it the 2nd time it died. (Battery was about 4yr old)

Try charging it up... the logic on the charging system is strange at best.

I thought mine was toast, still original battery in my 20 Ranger. I was getting low battery warnings and the Auto Unlock for all doors stopped working etc. I went and had it tested and it was fine so I drove it for over an hour to charge it up. I typically only make short trips and don’t drive it every day. After I ran it to charge it, it’s been fine ever since.

Using a maintainer, my original battery has lasted for 7 years. I get the ominous message but put the maintainer on and it goes away. I'll see how long the battery will last and post it when it really dies.

My battery is the original from 2019 so it's probably due. However
I think it's a crock to have to put a maintainer on a car battery. Just another burden for a buyer of an overpriced vehicle in the first place. I never heard of such a load of cow dung. Not your fault and I realize you are trying to give some valid information but it's just so lame to have to do. Unless I lived in Alaska or another really cold state I might consider such a device

It's because most of these newer vehicles have so much technology in them that there's parasitic drain from it. If you're not driving it much or do short trips it never has time to recharge the system. My battery on my '19 Ranger died in the first 18 months and had 2 dead cells and ever since then I've had it hooked up to a maintainer and haven't had any problems with either of my Rangers. It's just the price to pay for all this tech whether it's useful of not.

Yep, happened to me back in January. Also saw some weirdness with the display - went black sometimes except for backup camera. Still started the car just fine, but when I realized it was an AGM I got it replaced. AGM’s run full steam until they’re about to die completely. Got 4 years out of the original one.

Mine lasted for 4 years, then I replaced it with an Interstate battery and it seems to be fine. The Ranger is about 7 years old now so I'll see if it goes at least another year or hopefully more.
