Howdy all! Question: Can I run a throttle response system with my FP tune? I currently have the FP installed on my Ranger. And if so which one is recommended! Cheers 🤙

By throttle response system are you referring to a thing like a pedal commander?
If that’s the case, It might be redundant since I think the fp tune does uptempo the throttle response….
Not sure if it would add more response on top of the tune or just confuse the computer since it’s two things telling the brain to do the same thing twice…
I wanna say some have both a tune and pedal commander thingy.. hopefully one comes along soon and shares their experience..
Hope you get a proper answer quickly.

You can, but it isn't a good idea. All it will do is give the PCM a false reading of the throttle pedal position and claim that you want 90-95% throttle when all you want is 10-20%. Not a good idea for controlling the throttle well.

I have the Revolution Automotive tune and the Raxiom Speedform Throttle Controller. I typically leave it in STANDARD mode which has no effect on the OEM throttle response. The stock throttle response is fine for daily street driving. I only use the controller when I'm off road shredding a short course I laid out (that's 90% WOT). It's also useful when dirt drag racing. I've only used it on the street a few times. I don't drag race cuz it's a F'ing truck,,, but I did test it (on 3.9 Race Mode) to see what it could run with my new tune vs. my old tune in the 0-60...

You see, the tune already sharpens throttle response a bit, so adding a controller's mostly personal preference. I use the iDrive and it works fine, but it's more about feel than extra power.

I have a 5 Star Tune and a Pedal Commander. Had the tune before I added the Pedal Commander. Definitely noticed a big difference in throttle response in addition to the tune. Like the ability on the Pedal Commander to select various modes, and then fine tune each mode to really dial in the response level I want.

Thanks for everyone’s input. Just want to make sure I would be safe running my pro cal fp tune alongside the pedal commander or similar! Was concerned about it throwing codes…

Federal response is not what increased when you added the pedal commander. What changed was the pedal trying to give the correct signal and the pedal Commander telling your pedal to go f*** itself and telling the PCM something else instead.

The OP asked if a pedal device could/would work with a tune. What I shared was based on my experience. My throttle response increased dramatically over the OEM soft pedal when I added the Pedal Commander and did not pop any codes or negatively affect my tune. I am able to haze the tires at highway speeds if I get deep enough into the throttle.

Just thought I would do review after throttle control install! Came out great! Better than expected. It’s a tight confined space to get at the wire harness and unclip and reinstall. Note: I did wrap the excess cable around the air vent. I fed it up through steering column. Definately worth the $!
