Having read about random rod bearing failures on here now makes me wonder if ASS had something to do with the failures. Turning it off is part of my pre flight ritual.
I've permanently turned off with FORSCAN...now that I know about this wear issue, I'm not manually turning off my engine while waiting at a drive through anymore...

I'm convinced that these Green Police just don't know how to do math...all the premature burnt out engine replacement must cost at least 1,000 times the green house gases they claim to save with ASS...same with windmills that can't be recycled...

Good to know, thanks. I didn't know about the engine problems but knew it was unnecessary wear on the engine. So I turn it off as part of my preflight.
I have ForScan and will fix it for good. .....my wife is the same as others. I've given up on training her.

I never liked it and it's why I got a tune right after buying the Ranger.

It's pointless in trying to get my wife to push the button in her pilot everytime she gets in it. I'd love to get it disabled without having warranty issues.
Yes, tune shut off my ASS too. Don't miss it or the potential damage.

Most of my issues with these trucks were solved by just using (S) Sport mode, keeping my RPMs up and turning off ASS my mind does not even see (D) any more ....

I knew from day one. 😁
This wear issue has been understood for a very long time (easily 50+ years).

Auto manufacturers were forced to compromise common engineering principles in the name of pseudo science. I suspect automakers went along with the policy as it insures an increased steady revenue stream. Both in shortened product lifetime, and increased service costs.

Same problem with wet belts clogging up the oil pickup screen in some ecoboost engines... killing the engine from oil starvation.

I had a spun rod bearing on cyl 4, NEVER used auto start stop in the 50k miles the engine lasted. TH

My cyl 4 rod bearing spun at 50k miles and I never used auto stop for reasons in that video. Always used tow mode which disabled it or sport mode. Man, the truck might have less than 100 miles with normal drive mode. I also worried about the turbo itself with the engine stopping constantly.

I also did 5k full syth oil changes, I have to believe the foreman when he told me it was just bad luck as it was the first 2.3L with a rod bearing going out. The cams and cam bearings looked fine too.
