Got rear ended on the highway in my 2020 Lariat ranger, thoughts if it will be totaled?

The impact pushed the box into the driver's side c pillar and dented the hell out of it. What are your thoughts?

From my experience working in a auto body shop right out of high school, the C pillar depending on how much damage there is to it would either be repaired or replaced. Is the bed floor bent? As long as the bed floor isn't bent, then the bedside, tail gate and rear bumper would be replaced. Please don't quote me on this, I'm just going by what I can see.
Glad that you are okay and good luck man!

Hope everyone is ok! A guy I know got a brand new maverick an the 30 day temp tag was still on it when it got smashed from behind. They had it seven months but refused to total it an repaired it.

Guess I'm saying it seems unpredictable now. Minor damage gets totaled an major damage gets repaired.

Glad your okay. Was it still drivable after the accident? Probably need to wait to see what hidden damage the body shop finds. I assume the front end, complete power train and interior are in good shape. If it has low miles, there is probably a pretty good salvage value to it, which could lead to it being totaled.

Glad you are OK.

Insurance companies always seem to ask if airbags went off?

Probably boarderline. Is it drivable? Do both doors open freely? From the photos, I would guess that if the frame was tweaked, it might be minor enough that it can be straightened out, but unknown until it gets inspected. But the conventional wisdom on here leans toward totaled. Always counter offer your insurance proposal. It would be a prime salvage queen; interior, drivetrain, front clip, right side, most of the left cab- good hardware on a semi rare model would bring top dollar, IMO.

Assuming it's fair market value is $29-$30K, the total claim including car rental would have to exceed $20-$21K (70% of FMV) in most US states to be a total loss. Then you get a check for FMV.
Go to Kelly Blue Book and get your truck's value. Add the value of any accessories not shown in KBB's list like your topper and roof carrier. This can work for or against you if you want it totaled. It could raise the pay out value, but also raise the required 70% repair limit. Calculate the FMV with and without the accessories.

Well gentleman, the wait is over. I've received the insurance quote to repair the truck. The total repair cost is ~26K. I'm hoping they'll write it off now. Just waiting for the call from insurance for them to hopefully say it's written off.

Are you replacing it with another Ranger? You should get a trouble free 10R80. The salvager gets your old one.

I'll definitely get a new ranger, I loved mine. I'm not sure what year, I might buy a newer model year. I really hate financing anything though

Almost happened to me on the FL I-10. Luckily, the driver swerved into the median and around me at last second. I blame distracted drivers 99% of the time now.
Good luck with this!

Well shit, sucks but hopefully it all works out in the end with a new truck. Hopefully a trouble free 10r80 or 10r60 like the other poster said.

Thanks for sharing your experience, I may be in a similar boat here, will update with my results.
