I just did my first oil change with ValvoMax installed. Piece of cake. I had to use some slip joint pliers to get the cap off but draining was tidy. Slower than with the factory drain plug removed but you just have to hold the drain hose over the funnel of your drain pan for 5-7 minutes or so. Very worthwhile purchase. I still removed the skid plate to make it easier to get at the drain plug & aim the drain hose.
I've found that with the ValvoMax valve I don't have to remove the skid plate. Just reach up and take the cap off, just needs to be hand tight, attach the drain hose and route it to my drain pan and open the valve.

Has anyone changed the oil on their Ranger themselves? I watched a YouTube video and he was pulling off skid plates and plastics to get into things like the drain plug and filter.

Is that really required or is there a different method you used?

Thanks!
About 30+ times...install a quick drain spigot with a hose extension routed around the crash pan...

This was my first time draining with it. Did not know what flow rate would be like & didn't want to overflow the funnel that screws to my oil drain container. My drain hose also has a permanent hairpin bend in it from being folded in the bag requiring me to hold it to aim it correctly. Did not want to chance making a mess. Will try leaving it on next time. Really need to get a barbed hosed fitting & another foot or so of Tygon tubing.

I've found that with the ValvoMax valve I don't have to remove the skid plate. Just reach up and take the cap off, just needs to be hand tight, attach the drain hose and route it to my drain pan and open the valve.
