Hello - So May of 2 years ago, my 2019 had a complete transmission rebuild at ~34K, posted here:

https://www.ranger5g.com/forum/threads/transmission-repair-work-order.25518/

Now, just about exactly 2 years later at ~53K, transmission is once again starting to hitch going into second, exactly what it started doing prior to eventually going to sh*t and getting rebuilt in 2023.

I know I'm under warranty until 60K. Has anyone here gone through multiple iterations of transmission failure under warranty? What eventually happens? Does Ford just continue to repair it until you're out of warranty and then you're S-O-L?

Is this where you start to look for a class action lawsuit to join? So frustrated.

Would love to get some input on this, thanks in advance folks.

I've attached the original repair order redacted, if interested.

Reviewing the work order I notice there is no CDF Drum or valve body. The TSB has been updated significantly since you got the repair done. Get them to do the updated TSB that replaces the CDF Drum and Valvebody

The updated CDF drum is the first part listed. And it’s mentioned in the verbiage also

Do not know about other states but here in Colorado there is the lemon law, and I used it once against Ford on a crap F350 I had and after a little work they ended up having to buy back my truck and give me a brand new one, maybe you should see if your state has that law!

I might be in a similar situation. Dealer did transmission rebuild at 59K. Now at 70K the gremlins are starting to come back. Fortunately, I have an extended warranty. If they want to rebuild it again I will insist on the new transmission.

I had a rebuild last fall and took it in again a couple of months ago. They ended up replacing the entire transmission. I spoke with Ford Customer Service and they gave me a free extended warranty. I'm taking it im again next week because the new transmission is doing the same thing as the last one. We'll see what they do this time.

What extended warranty did you get? What level? Years? Miles?

I already have the Premium 8 year/125k warranty but would love to get more time added on to that.!

I read of a fellow that had 4 transmissions replaced in 80K miles. He had the extended warranty.

My Advice

Purchase and install a FitzStick dipstick. Then suck out the transmission fluid through the dipstick tube, and add the exact amount of clean fluid with LubeGard Platinum additive. My transmission was severely misbehaving from 5K to 18K. Did what I just suggested and at 26K all is still fine. I change the fluid as soon as I sense the transmission starting to act up or at 20K mile intervals.

I only have the five years 60,000. I’m under the 60,000 but I’m over the five years. My only saving grace is the credit union I financed with in 2019 offered me a platinum warranty for an extra $1200 which is good until December 2026 and will cover all the transmission repair (minus the 250 deductible).

I'm hoping the shop does the right thing and doesn't dick me around. I'm going to insist on a new tranny, not another rebuild.

Daniel, when you say Ford Customer Service, do you mean Ford as a company or the Ford dealer who worked on yours?

My God man, 3 times now?

The evidence suggests that the 10R80 isn't made to last. I am sure that Ford knows how to make a reliable 10R80, they simply chose not to.
