Are there any special procedures for those who bring in tuned trucks who don't revert back to stock tune before bringing it in for a new trans?
I suspect that a shop will realize they have you by the short hairs and will charge big bucks to download/flash the 'as built' file then go in to load the updated profile. I believe Forscan has the ability to do a lot of this.

I can reflash the stock tune with the Livernois tuner.

My desire for a Gladiator ranks somewhere between a date with Rosie O'Donnell and a colonoscopy while I'm awake. No thanks.:crackup::crackup::crackup::crackup::crackup:

Just reflashed mine before I brought it in for "The Works" the other day.

Big reminder how much better the Livernois tune shift schedules are OR it does well to hide the harsh shift problems from a bad CDF clutch. Will leave the tune off a short while to see if I have a tranny problem or if it relearns after flashing back to stock.

I’m at 88,000 miles on the original tranny. My stress level goes up everytime I look at the odometer lol. I also tow frequently. Hopefully running a tune since the 1st oil change and servicing the transmission will put me into the unicorn status of longevity for these transmissions ? I doubt it but a man’s gotta have dreams lol.

truthfully, I have a suspicion that there’s a strong correlation between towing and having a healthy transmission. Just seems like this threads regular towers don’t have issues. I just suspect the Ranger wasn’t heavy enough for the 10R80, so the towing makes it work in a way that makes it happy.

that’s purely a guess tho

I tow and mine went out at just under 40k miles. Spilled fluid everywhere and slammed multiple shifts really hard. I don’t know if towing more will help, but it seems to “firm up” the shifts which may reduce clutch slippage.

Amazing, I put 2 miles on my ranger and the trans didn't blow up. Trans issues get so blown out of proportion on this forum I can't believe anybody here still owns a ranger. Destined to self destruct from day one yay@

As has been previously pointed out in different "problem" threads, not all Ranger owners belong to this site. Most don't, actually. But the ones of us that do often find this site because we have encountered something out of the norm that we hope to find answers to here...and so you find a lot of folks with (please forgive me!) fuel in oil, seized spark plugs, exploding transmissions, and even noisy tailgate dampers. There's going to be a lot of complaints here because the struggle is real and we desire answers and comfort that we may not be suffering alone.

I cannot imagine how many of the thousands of Ranger owners currently may have the same problems many of us here are having, yet don't know what to do or where to turn for an answer or that a TSB even exists for the transmission issue (or thankfully that there's a worldwide DeeZee Damper recall for promoting muscular atrophy).

The experiences shared here are important, and I am thankful for those here that are willing to share them.

We tow heavy (6000 lbs) and had the transmission replaced at 18000 miles

Yeah, he got my attention with that one. Pictured both unfortunately!
I like to try and paint a mental image that conveys my sentiments...

Ford wouldn’t be issuing multiple TSB’s and have multiple pending lawsuits if this issue just a few with overblown reactions.
