saw a sliverado with the same affliction.....
mine does it.. I don't care because I only notice it when the gate is open.
put a load on it and it goes away. that's my fix FWIW

My 94 and 07 rangers were the same. One a little longer and that’s how they are I replaced them on Botha trucks and one is a little shorter from factory

I have a 2021 tremor and my driver side cable is loose about .25 inches it never is tight I took it to the dealer and they ordered 2 new ones, nothing worked they said some are like that. Did anyone ever get their issue resoved? Please?

Are the L/R specific? Swap side and see if you have the same issue.
If you ordered replacements, and one was shorter than the other, wouldn't you now have two of each the same size?
A quick search on amazon showed many options under $20, and I selected one just for the hell of it to see the description, and this was the actual photo on the listing...
