I can't afford 11k for a new trans. Shit, I can't afford half that. That's why I have a ranger not a 150...
I think the Eff One Fiddy uses the same trans anyway.
After spending 16 years in the Sport Trac world my opinion is that Ford builds great engines but their transmissions are sh*t.
My 2020 has 85k and I recently paid it off but I'm thinking about trading it in before the warranty runs out at 100k. But then they stopped making the Supercab. I dunno.... A $6000 trans is cheaper than a whole new truck.

Not warranty. Some special program Ford has to fix vehicles with known issues or something like that. We used to call it doing the right thing or standing behind your product.

I have a quote already for a full rebuild for like $5300 from another shop. Might have to do that...

Oof - it’s gotta be just a matter of time before a class action lawsuit for ford 10 speeds sticks like this one for the GM 8 speeds. With all the TSBs Ford has put out, it’s somewhat an admission of guilt it would seem.

Good luck with your rebuild quote.
My issue is that the DIDNT perform or even mention the TSBs when I brought the truck in for trans issues. I'm going to fight this tooth and bloody nail

Well if it makes any of you feel better, I had a trans at the back of my mind as a possible future issue to deal with but instead my engine goes out at 50k miles (rod bearing, warranty but 7 weeks without it). So don't worry until something happens lol

That $10k sounds ridiculous, I would ask for a price breakdown. A trans swap I would think a tech can technically do in 2.5hrs but even if they charged 6hrs, what's the cost breakdown. $10k is nuts. I know my local ford dealer marks parts above MSRP which is nuts for a dealer to do. They should help you out there.

I think it's the same base but slightly different? 150 has a trans cooler and the ranger doesn't. Expeditions and mustangs have the 10r80 as well

F150 does use same trans, I had a 2018 F150 only had 14k miles and it was clunking on down shifts and erratic behavior. It was reprogramed and would shift better in the eco mode you could put it in. I sold it when the powertrain warranty expired. My Ranger so far has been ok.

TSB’s are vehicles that are still under warranty. A CSP ( customer satisfaction program) would be for vehicles beyond warranty. There are no CSP’s on the 10R80. Fords powertrain warranty is 5 year / 60K miles. You are 50K beyond warranty. They may have helped up to 100K but that is a good will program . You’re 10K beyond that. Keep your documentation for if/when a class action gets awarded.

Ask them what they do as far as the CDF drum and associated bushing as far as improvements over factory trans. That is the big issue.

They both have trans coolers, just packaged different. They aren't really coolers either, they are liquid to liquid heat exchanger that use engine coolant to bring the transmission up to operating temp quicker and maintain it there.
