Agree on that point, but of the 400,000 5G US Rangers on the road, how many are affected? I bet it's less that 1%.
Many are fleet for security or small businesses that change them when out of warranty or old people that are out of them before 40k miles. They are stacking up on used lots and not selling. The resale values show it is not a great investment.

I bought mine by selling some Ford stock, I love the company and wanted something "American made-ish" that did truck stuff without guzzling fuel, but I just don't love the quality and costs to keep them on the road, targets of theft and damage, and get nothing for them in resale compared to other brands make a bitter pill.

If I could get 200-300 carefree miles like I did in my Korean cars in the past I'd have a 2025 Ranger on preorder and not be tempted by Toyota. With today's prices, it is hard to pay off a truck before 60k warranty is up unless you hardly use it.

I wish I was the only person with issues, but KBB and market research prove otherwise. I agree a more comprehensive study should be done or found to settle the argument with facts.

That wasn't my experience. I bought used my whole life and the only time I grenaded a transmission was from doing neutral drops in a Camry. Now am I an adult non-reckless driver and if my tranny goes in my NEW Ranger, the first new vehicle I ever bought, I'm gonna say that's a decline in quality.

Plus while I've changed clutches and engines before, I'm betting if I had to replace the transmission in this truck it's gonna be extra complicated for some silly reason. I kinda figured buying this meant having to do that kinda stuff was over.
Sounds like you are comparing manual trans to an auto. No fair way to do that.
I've glanced under my truck and if you have to change your trans I will take that bet.

If you plan on keeping it long term a ext warranty may be a good investment.
Actually Ford has given me an extended warranty for some of the issues I was having but it seems every week there’s something new.I was really hoping to keep this truck for the long run but it’s time for it to go

A few days ago my keyless entry wouldn't unlock the door. First time that's happened. I could hear it click but the door wouldn't unlock. I used the fob button to unlock, and then the next time it worked. It may be a battery issue, who knows. it's a 2020.
FWIW, mine started popping up "key fob battery low" warnings on the dash until I replaced the battery. If you're not getting those it's probably not a low battery.

Not the first time you've mentioned this... so old people and companies buying XL's are the only Ranger customers? Huh. Didn't know that... And the old people just sit around with their thumb up their ass trying to avoid driving? Huh. Another news flash for me.

No doubt I'm "old" in your eyes. Well FYI, even trying to save miles on my truck I've got 15K+ in 9 1/2 months. Guess I'd better drop anchor, walk over to the park bench, feed the pigeons and wait to f***ing die.

Just ran 300+ miles in the GTA this week and didn't even run over anyone! And at my age! In a rental Expedition! OMG it was so big! I could barely see over the steering wheel! So scary. And...when I get back to the airport tomorrow morning I've got about a 140 mile drive to get home. No doubt I'll run the entire way at 40 mph with my turn signal on.

WTF dude....

I hope you are lucky enough to get "old" one day. Lot of folks never get that luxury in this thing called life.

Lastly, I promise you that your definition of "old" .... ain't.

At 1 year of ownership, and 20k miles, I'm already thinking of that I'm trading the truck in for.
I'm getting transmission issues and the driveshaft noise. But the biggest factor is that my local dealer is crap. I was told today 3 months wait for any transmission issues, so call another dealer. That's some stellar customer service. The Jeep dealer that takes care of me wife's WK2 is awesome.
I'll enjoy the truck while I have it but when I can swing the payment for my Power Wagon, she gone.

Anyone ever consider how many defective Ranger owners there are?
Going by this forum it appears the majority of owners of Ford Rangers have designed defects or perhaps its all the mods. There ought to be a recall or a class action suit with all the defective Ranger owners. These damn people producers nowadays just don't have quality control, pretty obvious they are just going for cheapest cost and quantity instead of quality by the product that is produced. I'd say quality started falling off around 40 yrs ago.
I know a few people who own other truck brands and those owners aren't as defective as the Ranger owners here.
I'm gonna trade in the Ranger and get a Taco because thier owners aren't as defective as Ranger owners.

Never seen used Rangers on any of the lots around here.
Low resale value? Sure. That's why some have reported selling their 2 yrs. old Ranger for the same price they paid when new.

I came from a large chevy Avalanche to having to adjust to my cute 19 Ranger XLT and it was a squeeze. When I was offered more than I paid for it I ordered a 2022 F150 V8 Lariat and NOW I have the right sized comfy and spacious PU that gets 23.5 MPG the same as the Ranger and way more elegant while doing it. I like my Ranger but Love my F150. **Seems like I was paying ALOT to get a mid sized truck and GOT alot more for my money with the Lariat 150 now and a STEP UP Tail gate which I sorely missed having on the Ranger. Love a happy ending.

Do not mean to harp on age, I am less than a decade from AARP myself. The only reason I brought it up and also said "in my city" as when I see other Ranger drivers they tend to be over 50+. In other parts of the country, it seems to be a young man's truck and people are modding them for Overlanding, etc. Statistically people over 50-60 often drive less or have multiple vehicles and thus do not put the miles and wear and tear I have on mine as a daily driver, that's all.

I am glad you are enjoying your truck and putting miles on it, mine was worry-free till 70-80k so you still have some time to go.

I am glad there is a truck in this space as the others have gotten so big. I park mine next to a 2000s F150 and I am higher and a little narrower than what was a "full-size" truck 20 years ago. I love my truck when it works and not getting robbed parts from, it just could be better and Ford could improve this product.

I don't think you are wrong. My observation is the primary demographic driving 2019+ rangers is retired dudes. The way you said it initially came off as being derisive, so maybe work on your delivery.
