I get ~ 17 mpg on my 23 tremor, but that is my driving style. The skinny pedal makes me happy.

I also run 93/91 all the time.

I have a bed rack, basket and ~250 pounds in the bed full-time.

MPG isn't going to be the same for any 2 people, driving styles, location, fuels, mods, tunes etc all effect this. Putting the skinny pedal to the floor a few times each tank can tank MPG...

OP needs to post some pictures of their intake and exhaust so others here can see if there is more than just a filter added...

If you're relying on your factory MPG computer it may not be correct. Hand calculating may show your mileage in line with what others are experiencing with similar configurations and driving modes.

Here are the spark plugs. I just pulled them. They're all the same color, but it looks like they have some blow-by, so I got new ones. About to put them in

I'd say those are normal unless you have really low mileage. I plan to swap mine out at 50k unless I develope any weird issues like ping or a sudden drop in mpg. Plugs and another egr sensor actually.

I've done a hand calculation before to check the accuracy of the computer and it was pretty on point.

I've just posted a few pics. Let me know if you need any more or if you want a picture of something specific. It all looks stock to me besides the tires and front bumper. The bumper doesn't weigh too much. I think its around 300, but that's not enough to cause a major shift in MPG and I don't generally have anything in the bed. When I was towing the bikes in the back with all our gear in the cab it was easily another 1200lbs and I didn't see much of a shift in gas mileage. I think I got 16.1 average over the whole trip. I usually get 16.4 if I drive it without thinking about how I'm driving it and 16.7 if I'm being gentle with it. That's still less than a F150 V8 coming out of this 4 cylinder though...

I bought the truck used, so I don't know. The only evidence we have that it may be tuned is a K&N air filter and some poor gas mileage.
I would take it to ford and see if they will reflash the ECU for you. It could have a performance Tune or aftermarket that needs 91/93.... Hence your Engine Ping etc...

I get 15.8 in my 2017 f150 supercrew 5.0.
For the ranger I think with 33's and a 2" level I couldn't pass 19 mpg and then once I got the tune it went to like 16 and couldn't pass 17. I'm pretty sure I have floored it each time I've driven it and it was my daily for 3.5 years. Only used premium fuel too and always had 200 lbs of sandbags in the bed until I built my bedcage. I get 10 now but it's built for performance. Tunes aren't cheap so I would think most people remove the tune to use the tuner on another truck but some do leave it. It's probably your tires as far as mpg I always went with lighter tires.

For the ping I second that it could be tuned for higher octane.

- OEM exhaust.
- Does not look not lifted. Although it does have bigger tires. Maybe a smaller spacer lift but that shouldn't matter.
- Your rear passenger leaf spring looks cockeyed in that one picture though?
- Does the front passenger tire have a bald spot? The whole inside tread looks flat. Unless its a camera thing.

Just replaced the spark plugs with new factory ones (they didn't have NGK at autozone). With the initial test drive, it seems like the ping is less noticeable, but it's still there. When I take it in, I'll see if they can reflash the ECU in case there are any modification to the fuel mapping or ignition timing. I haven't heard anyone mention the exhaust or intake looks aftermarket, so that just leaves a possible tune, the K&N air filter, or any other issue that could cause ping..I'm afraid that the tech might not hear what I'm hearing since it's pretty subtle and can be intermittent. I've been a motorcycle/ATV and SxS tech for 10 years, so I know how frustrating it can be for a customer who has intermittent problems.

Intake Filter would not cause this... As long as the Intake pipe and sensor is the same. My money is on tune
