yup, the 6g is a fail. (ford doesn't want to sell me a truck with the stuff I want.) toyota comes closer, but it's also gotten too damn big and they're also bad about bundling stuff in combinations I'm not looking for. thank god I don't need a new truck.

and honestly, watching the way ford's dealt with even minor stuff like the cracking parking brake boot or the disposable egr sensors, it's not like ford's given me a lot of reasons to be loyal. I'm happy enough with the truck I've got, but ford just isn't working very hard to convince me to buy another one.
The EGR thing would be annoying but not that big a deal if Ford dealers were competent. Instead it seems like there's a 90% chance you'll have to fight the dealer to even acknowledge the problem.

but the reason for that AFAIK is that ford hasn't issued a service advisory on the issue.

The 2021 reveal is still ramping up.

I foresee a TRD 6 speed in my future. Especially if the tow capacity is similar to the automatic. Toyota was always good about matching both.
With no more tremor option, unless ford adds it back, this will be my last ranger.
The payload is fantastic, ~1700 lbs. The towing is unacceptable, 6400 lbs, which knocks it out of contention for me.

Lol not sure how the towing capacity is "Unacceptable" here when that is still a good number for a midsize truck. At that point if you want to tow a house you are best to buy a 34 or 1 ton truck.

Guess they got tired of the "only 2 bags of groceries" type jokes.

Still struggling to believe a Taco has real cargo capacity.

in my case, my trailer runs about 5500-6000lbs loaded. That is just not enough for me, especially at altitude. The payload is great for the WDH though.

With a towing capacity of 6400 that is plenty acceptable for that load

I think they are going after the overlanders.
Good market to chase. Taco's are already strong (in spite of being weak  ) with that group. Real truck capacity would only make it more so. With that capacity no doubt it would kick the Rangers ass with the overlanders, especially because of the Taco fan boys.

Did you miss the “for me” part. A 6000 lbs trailer with a 6400 lbs towing capacity gives a 6.6% reserve. That’s probably okay at sea level.
The same trailer on the Ranger gives you a 25% reserve but, with a WDH you probably can’t exceed ~12% tongue weight with passengers and, a nearly empty Ranger. The Toyota at least has the payload to carry some equipment.

I take it you have never been to the mountains?plenty of people will tow at capacity here where you easily drive at elevations varying from 7,000-11,000 FT. As for the WDH I know it helps with load distribution and I would have no problems putting stuff in the bed and passengers in the truck. Some say that would be overloaded. I say it will do just fine as long as you are being smart with the driving while towing.

starting out over capacity by definition is not being smart. . . so not off to a good start there. . .

I've always been a GM guy until this Ranger. Was pretty disappointed that the dealer tried one TSB to fix the startup vibes before they gave up. I ended up having to fix myself which makes me Leary of the 2024. They can't/won't fix their bad designs once you purchase.
100% exactly why I sold the Ranger. Not deal8ng with a $30k headache with no support from Ford. ...F@#k em'

I guess good luck and good speed?
