I just wonder how much that momentary increase in HP helps in a real world situation. It looks like across the bands it's relatively the same except for some pops from 2500-3000 rpm and 5800-6400 RPM. However, unless you are in manual I rarely see the speedometer run up to 6000+ unless I am blasting on a hill. It seems like it wants to shift earlier. Is this more advantageous for manual?

Is there a change in sounds? I find most people buy CAI for the visceral experience versus the actual real world benefit. This whole post is assumptions from a lack of knowledge on things so just inquiring to gain more info.

It’s super time consuming to make, everything is hand machined and welded. The price will increase once I sell this batch. I posted the graphs btw, thanks for reminding me.
Totally get it! I am a penny pincher by nature.

The momentary gains show how it eases the load on the turbo, it’s able to light off easier which shows in the increase down low, it’s able to maintain power instead of falling off up top also indicating the increased airflow helping out. This doesn’t sound like much but it seriously shows while driving it. It’s almost like adding another sport mode in the way it adds responsiveness etc. when we switched to this pipe the amount of wastegate duty cycle went down, meaning that the turbo didn’t have to work as hard to make the same power it was previously making. With the duty cycle reduced the total power limit of the turbo should be higher than without the pipe. The reason the middle of the graph didn’t change is simply because the engine was already making the limit of its fuel (octane) with e30-50 I’d expect more gains throughout.

It has been dyno proven on certain intakes, but one thing to consider is where you live. If you are in a highly dusty area like Arizona or where younare in the Desert then i would suggest not going with anything but the factory filter. Why do you ask? More airflow will most likely result in dirt and dust getting by and wiping a cylinder or two out. This is something i have seen with my own eyes in Arizona from K&N air Filters.
Totally agree! I was running a K&N inside my factory air box with the aFe power scoop.....I decided it wasn't good for the turbo. I am now back to a factory Motorcraft paper filter. I still have the power scoop installed into the factory air box and I have a performance after market exhaust, along with a Livernois tune. Honestly, I can't tell a bit of difference in power level with the filters.....just my opinion after howling around in my Ranger for about 65K like that.....lol. You might say my database is extensive with applying power to a Ranger.....

Thanks for the explanation! Do you have install guides made or a video of installation?

I have a bunch of data, dyno information and a ton of pictures, I’m putting together an install guide of sorts in my Facebook group as a sticky post and will adjust it for content as needed.

+ONE to the ā€œ visceral experienceā€. It was the same with the Holley 650 double pumper on my brother’s ā€˜Cuda. At 19 years old, no one really cared about the numbers, you knew it was delivering because of that sound! :D

It really doesn’t change the sound much that I’ve noticed.

I don't have one installed yet but from my understanding something like an injen style open intake well clearly change the audible tone of your inner workings with most reporting clear audible sound of the turbo.

I'm totally cool with that as opposed to douches who run cat and muffler delete and wind out first gear in neighborhoods.

Don't get me started on quote classic cars unquote. Whole bunch of noise not to go anywhere fast and handle like dog s***.

I’ve had a Mishimoto and now an Injen. I can tell you that it has gone from no turbo sounds to woah turbo sounds! It’s pretty cool. You can hear it in these videos.

I think once there is a good install guide I will hop on it.

Damn, that sounds good. Love the turbo sounds that are way more apparent. Going to have to consider this CAI just for the sounds even if it may draw a little more heat here and there.

100%, even on my little pooper mazda 3 back when it first released in the US I added the CAI just because it's a beautiful sound. I bet the 'Cuda was a thrill to drive with the additional sounds to liven up the experience :D
