I'm still looking for something decently close job wise
You feeling entrepreneurial? You clearly know your stuff when it comes to fabricating kick ass aftermarket accessories, and rumor has it that there's a new hole in the market. and I'll bet there's a shop space not far from you that the landlord is looking for a new tenant.

Just sayin...

This sucks to hear, I'm local to the houston area and my previous 1st gen tacoma I had shrockworks front, rear and sliders and even though I had a less than great experience with them, I hate to see a local company die out

LOL if that was even remotely possible for me to accomplish at mininum i'd empty all the wifes shit out the garage and get to work.

Assuming I had a tube bender, nice vertical notcher, grinders, mig welder I could get a bumper a day done assuming the parts were laser cut and bent and shipped to me ;)

At our peak busting ass we were doing 1 full size bumper every 6h give or take really depended on what bumper.

Alot of things namely winning the lottery would have to occur but I can dream.
in the mean time , to stay somewhat close to home it looks like I will be fabricating these
Hippo Hopper

at a decent pay cut. $2/hr less to start. [ Tho i've not accepted this job yet ]
you would figure when I weld test and drop stuff like this here
they would have agreed to keep me at what i was making at shrockworks but~ shrug

This is a cautionary tale for dealing with businesses that require you to pay the full price of the product up front so that only the customer is taking a financial risk. I don’t mind paying a small deposit to a small shop for a custom product, but not the full price.

Did you give them cash? If you paid by credit card you should be able to go back on the credit card company....
yes, this is why you pay with credit. time is an issue though; you've got 60 days by law, with some circumstances pushing that to 120 days, and the card issuer may have more generous limits at their discretion. best practice is to file a dispute as soon as you get the willies; if you end up getting the situation resolved you can just close the dispute, but filing stops the clock.

I'm just saying BUT
you could have ordered thru website and chosen CC by phone as payment, call in with card info and at time said half as deposit. which is neither here nor there now.

Being a former business owner. I’ve seen plenty of operations like this that have gone belly up because of mismanagement. Thing is the products they produced had a very good name for themselves. At some point the operation will be auctioned off to the highest bidder. I have seen former employees step up and buy off the former operation to then turn around and rebrand that company. Seems this could be an opportunity of a lifetime if you all band together and push it through. A business plan for bank involvement would be easy as you do have an established customer base already and pricing to go with it. Just a thought

Good advice and the employees could get advice from other business owners to help them get going. Hire a good CPA for the books and a secretary to answer the phones, invoice, process orders and check emails. You guys already know how to do the work and make a great product. The hardest part I see is someone stepping up with good credit to buy or lease the building and equipment. Besides good credit it takes a lot of nerve to jump in and do it but if you're giving it 100% it will work.

When I sold my business (to one of my employees) he was lucky as I financed it for him at 0%. We did a 7 year note and he pays me every 2 weeks and this June will be his final payment. I also helped him run it and get him use to doing the estimates and invoicing but he caught on quickly. Trust me this is someone with zero business skills and he's doing great. I handed him a well established business and all my clients just like these employees have now. @XDKTC it's something to think about and talk with the others about. It's sad to see good talent go to waste and if you guys could do this I'm sure in time it'll work out for you all.

Buy it? Hell, steal it. ;) Clearly, you’ve earned it.

I was sort of joking when I suggested it, but...

Is it just lack of capital that's holding you back? Maybe you can find someone willing to mentor you through putting together a business plan, and use that to get financing?

On the other hand, if you have no interest in running a business, then it sounds like you're on a good track with finding opportunities to use your skills to get a paycheck coming in.

buying the company just isnt possible at least in my mind , the company itself obv has too much debt , ticked off customers they owe money to ect.
I dang sure dont want to take it over with all this in mind.
Now , I would not be opposed to buying the IP/Products rights and producing them under a new name . Just getting the word of mouth that X products is same SW was doing diff story. lol

all wishful thinking tho , I've seen the stresses tho that something like this can impose on those responsible and it's honestly just not for me . I wanna build the cool ass stuff we made and make some folks happy with it.

I'm 40 and the past several years (6+) my physical health has been on decline . I don't mention for sympathy ect just as another reasoning to why I don't want the excess stress of owning/running a business.
