I’m at 44k now. Change my oil around every 5000mi. I get 21mpg with 33s. No misfires, no CEL, no loss of performance or issues to report…. yet
Maybe some members with higher mileage will chime in
Stock tune? Asking because I have new front coilovers and uppers, not installed yet. Also have new 16x8 wheels but not sure on tire size yet, it’s my last thing I need before I can throw the parts on. Undecided with going 32” or 33” or something metric in between. Sorry to post this on this thread but my truck has 12k miles and you clearly have more experience with the truck.

Yeah stock tune. It’s my daily driver and while I like doing some mods it’s got plenty of power and fun for what I need it to do. I want the truck to last me. Every other vehicle I’ve owned has either been 20+ years old or had 200k plus miles on them lol with care and good maintenance I’ll hopefully get as much as I can out of it.

Word. Can I ask the exact tire size? Sorry for the questions, I appreciate it. I also would like my truck to last me. And 21mpg sounds nice, I usually avg 23 right now.

ugh....I feel like a miscreant here...48,966 mi, change my oil around every 10k (when the monitor tells me) use 87 octane Kroger or Shell gas (gotta use my points) and rolling the stock tune.

no misfires, hiccups, or loud gasps (from the engine).

currently getting about 23 mpg and is smooth.

D

Edit to add - I DO have a Mishimoto catch can...

A coworker told me his newer Subaru called for it at 40 or 50k. Not sure if that was the manufacturer or dealership though.

In any case, I think it's an inevitable thing for us. The question is when.

Something to check for sure. He makes it look pretty easy just wondering about the cost at a shop.

that's not bad considering they have to pull the intake.

Thanks!

UCA, 2" Fox Level, P285/70/17 Falken Wildpeaks- extended highway cruise control to our upstate NY lakehouse MPG- consistenty 23mpg in summer. stock tune but I run 93 octane premium. cruise is set between 72-75.

my wheel+tire setup added exactly 10lbs of unsprung weight per wheel vs the stock sport package. would recommend if you go to a 33 definitely using premium as it offsets a significant chunk of the mpg loss.

good luck, post pics.

I worked for a guy in a real service station back in 74-75 and he would pour water down the carb while the engine was running, amazing how much better the motors ran after that treatment. He claimed it cleaned the carbon of the pistons and valves.

Hahahahah , the old Cadillac mechanic that taught me a few tricks would pour a little coffee down the carb to quiet things down a bit...

He also sold used cars at his Texaco station, He had a car with a knock in the engine and the water treatment cured the knock. Those old guys could fix cars with a screwdriver and a hammer.

I doubt anyone with even 40K 0r 50K on their 2.3 is going to be having misfires or rough idle.
it will take a bit longer.

My 2013 Escape (2.0 Eco) was still fine at 100K, but when I traded it in for the Ranger it had 130K, and would idle so rough at a stoplight you could watch the hood shake and shimmer like Elvis.. I'd put the selector in neutral at lights as I was afraid the engine was going to die.

I bought the 19 Ranger a year ago and it had 18K on it, but still looked showroom new.
At 65 this might be the last newer truck I buy, and I want it to last.
The first thing I did to it was install a UPR Dual can.
Only time will tell if the can helps, not Doc posting another can of worms Meme telling us how silly we are.

I worked briefly for a full service station during the late 70s part time. Had a completely undeserved ‘good’(?) reputation.

We were expected to sell unnecessary parts and services, including vandalizing customer’s vehicles when needed. I don’t think I lasted 2 weeks.

Station closed the following year and converted to a convenience store w/fuel islands.
