The FP feeds from the valve cover to the air intake tube pre turbo. The other feeds from the factory crankcase vent/seperator on the side of the block around the oil filter area to the intake manifold. So there are two ways for crankcase vapors to enter the intake system.

Sounds like that will remove the gunk before it gets to the turbo???

I’m interested to see an update after winter miles - but, this guy ran both UPR and FP in his 2.3L Bronco:

Yeah, he basically installed/cleaned them at the beginning of summer. So his results should be expected. Cold weather and his driving habits will dictate what he sees next.

When I cleaned mine I had a little gunk after 2k miles I believe, and it was warm then.

I’m starting a new science project with mine. Just installed the FP separator and reinstalling my single catch can. Will run it ( in Michigan) for December and January with mostly short trips . Then it will sit for February and March while we are down south. Will check them both in April when we get back when doing a planned 5k oil change. It won’t accumulate very many miles in January-February but it will be “worst case” scenarios with cold starts and short drives.

When I got my UPR catch can it was early on my ownership (new truck) and I lived in the consistent climate of South Florida. I got crud pretty regularly then and though I've added the second (ahead of the turbo) vacuum connection and moved to a more northern latitude and have made trips farther north and haven't been able to pin down what influences collecting stuff - temps, time running under boost, humidities or even octane/ethanol content but the configuration of the Ford accessory takes me back to wondering if a vented oil cap (or better) and vent can like UPR might be able to fab up a functionally similar solution. Considering the number of people here who talk about having to manage oil spray from vented oil caps the fact the Ford separator didn't get anything (?) makes me wonder what's up with that.

I have had the FP can since June I live in northern climate. During the summer hardly anything in the can at 1000 miles and every 1000 since until the last time I cleaned it and now that it’s been in the teens at night and after another month it was almost full. I attribute that to low outdoor temps and truck not getting fully up to temp during the first 15 miles of driving. Just completed a 1000 mile trip so time to check again.

Thanks for the reminder to check. 1500 miles and this is what just poured out. Milky, reeking if fuel.
