Today I completed the next stage of my build... got my Sy-Klone precleaner installed on my Safari snorkel, which was recently mated to a Roush Cold Air Intake. I've seen about 30-55 miles/tank increase in efficiency. Much appreciated in these dark times of gas prices. I also added the AVS Bugflector II, and I think it really strengthens a gripe I've had with this gen Ranger, the sloping hood and grill, seemingly pulled from the Escape.

Added the AVS Aeroskin II to the Ranger this morning as temperatures cruised, slowly, above 60 F. Really liking the change in the front end appearance.

After that I quickly added 4 lifting lugs to the location where the missing tie downs should have gone in the truck bed. These are the ones I used.

They technically aren’t lifting lugs, but are probably more than sufficient for what I will use them for.

Installed the FP Fox 2.0 shocks in the rear. I will do the fronts when I can free up a whole day to spend time in the garage. The rears aren't a huge improvement on the street, haven't had a chance to get them off road yet. The do seem to better dampen the bounciness of the rear over bumps though. I also removed the ecoboost badge from the tailgate.

I'll be dropping it off at 4WheelParts this Thursday morning and get to drive home in a finished project that afternoon. :D It's not that I can't do it myself... I just don't enjoy spending all day in the driveway wrenching like I used to.

I didn't do it today, but last Friday... I cleaned my truck, inside and out for 6 hours Friday afternoon to midnight.

Then, Saturday morning, I entered it in a local 42nd Annual Mustang and Ford Car Show and to my complete surprise, I won 1st place in my class!

Had numerous compliments on the Ranger! I was actually surprised that this many people actually liked it!

Changed the front axle lube. The stream looked gold although black in the pan. Small amount of shavings on the drain plug. Neither was as bad as the rear axle. 30k, both axles and transfer case are changed. Redline 75w-90 in the axles and D6 in the T-case.

Jason - to your complete surprise maybe but not mine. In my eyes, it’s always been a show piece, now it’s official.

Your hard work really paid off. Congratulations!

Awwww, thanks man! I was really shocked when they said my name though! What I didn't understand though, was a stock new 2dr Bronco tied with me....

Clearly the judges were drunk - how is a bone stock Bronco (some would consider it an SUV) in the same class as a lowered and customized pickup?

It’s cool but doesn’t hold a candle to your ride.

@Elmosaurus what brand seal did you use?

I studied their directions thoroughly, was all prepared to follow, and realized at the moment of prep that it was just plain overkill. My setup with the cover and bed mat is so decent at keeping almost everything but driving water out, even up to heavy rains at 70+ mph, that I felt just blocking the edge from top to bottom would be plenty to keep my bed dry and almost completely dust free.

So the approach you saw in the pic is what I took, and I have probably almost half of the material remaining. Which is perfect, because if one side lets go for some reason, or I tear/damage one side while loading, I can just replace with my spare material. :)
