The boot around the emergency brake on my 2019 has two small splits right on a crease line. Truck has less than 18000 miles and is not yet three years old, would this be replaceable under warranty?

Yes, it's a warranty item.

Mine has already been replaced once under warranty and will be getting replaced again soon.

I set my parking brake every time I park the truck and almost all my drives are less than 20 minutes.

So that's probably why mine is already failing again.

I would also think a local shoe repair or leather shop would be able to make a better boot/cover?? Especially if it's too small of a job for a bigger upholstery shop??

May I suggest to the moderators to combine this thread along with the other thread going around about this??

So has anyone on this forum actual removed/installed this boot? Curious what's involved? :crazy:Special tools, tricks, tips ??
Yep, just pull. Start on the rear and go to the passenger and around counter clockwise.

Well I went to 3 shops (Tried 5, but 2 were either closed or no longer there). Couldn't get anyone to do it and I already removed the boot.

One said leather was stiffer than vinyl (I left) and another said he could, but he didn't have the right materials (kinda sketchy place). Never got to price.

Lame duck day.

Anyone have another shop that can do it well?

I bought some black vinyl from a Hobby Lobby in my area to redo the door inserts on my 2009 Mustang GT/CS. It is very soft and thin and would work perfectly. If one could find a shop willing to stitch one up, the material should be available at your local craft store. They sell that kind of material by the yard.

Most of the time people working in those craft stores are into crafts using the materials they sell and probably know someone local that might be willing to help you out that has a sewing machine to stitch vinyl.

Oh I get ya. Thanks for the ideas.

When I was younger and fixing up or restoring, I would get frustrated at shops inabilities or costs and then do it myself. Sometimes I had to do a bit of learning, but it was great experience that way, and when there was no internet.

Now? I would have thought this would be a bit easier. I expect a result that if $ was not the biggest factor, that the end result would be what the factory should have done.

My expectations are almost always high! Sometimes they are not met and that's okay, it becomes a way to develop ones self. It is how I calculate value.

Retired, work is a four letter word.
Well, you all got me thinking so I went out in the garage and looked at my 10 month old park brake boot, and sure as hell it has a crack already, Really!! Ford, you can't use something better than pleather! Good thing my wife is very crafty (in more ways than one) as I showed it to her and her response was "No big deal, I can make that, with better material". She does have 3 sewing machines and an entire room dedicated as her 'Craft Room'. She makes some great stuff.

As long as the stitching matches, have her make two! I am in the East Bay and will gladly pay for a new boot. Not $35 for another Ford one though.
