I want to drive that road, right there!

It looks familiar Steve - Garabaldi? Up in behind The Lions somewhere maybe?

I brought it to the local dealership for the front passenger seatbelt safety recall. I was there for several hours. It was pretty warm in the waiting area so I played solitaire on my phone and had a nap. It ended up passing the inspection…

conroy creek FSR. I believe that might be tantalus range in the back!
Up above the Cheakamus River - pretty sure I saw this switchback when racing the the Test of Metal or maybe the Cheakamus Challenge one year. It looks like way more fun in a truck.

Ranger failed again this morning (-22'C / -7.6'F). Same symptoms, multiple error messages from 4x4, ECS, what else.. car in limp mode and (this time I tried) 4x4 not engaging. So it seems that Raptors electronics cannot handle cold weather/icing. 15-20 minutes engine idling and restart and it works again.

Was not a problem last spring, but then again the temperature did not fall below -17.6'C (at night) and average was around -8'C. Typical startup temp might have been around -4'C.

But alas, all is not lost. This was pretty much expected from my and the dealer side, although I would have though that these issues would appear only when it's cold (below -40'C/-40'F) and not in this mild weather. But then again, Raptor is designed in Australia and built in South Africa, both of where winter starts when temps drop below +20'C.

But anyway.. hit the garage, found a 5A fuze and plugged it in to Eberspächer control circuit and checked that remote+ works. Let's see tomorrow how this thing works with some extra heat.

Did a small drive for something..

But the "funny" thing was that I remote started the car and came to there 10-15 minutes later. Then I pressed the start button and the car vomited set of codes. Check 4x4, 4x4 malfunction, reserve maintenance, downhill assist failure, front collision detection failure, jada jada jada..

Drove off and the car was in limp mode. Stopped, turned off the car, walked around and restarted. And off it goes without any issues.

So I guess we're reaching the predicted technology level..

P.S. It was bit over -20'C in here this morning.
Sounds familiar except for the cold.

Sorry to hear that you've experienced the same situation.

Today the temps were only -11'C and there was no issues.

However I did take ODB reader to the car and the underlying issue seems to be engineering choice.

Actual code is "UE401 - Invalid data" and the symptoms are software/design choice. Practically the design choice here is "Some sensor is sending data which does not match engineering expectations so let's just disable everything to be safe".

Any normal person would note that "You data is crap, go sit in the corner and only come back when you have something real."

Ughhhhhhh. We've been working late getting our agency through our annual in-service "night fire" training. So I got home, started to get settled in for the evening, and called my wife who has already moved to Florida and started her new job, when the new neighbor started texting her.

The new neighbors bought the house in August, and have been doing a full gut remodel on it. Their head construction guy (works for their family) had a dead car battery at 9:30PM and the new neighbor reached out to see if I could help him.

Of course, my jump box was dead, and the jumper cables are in my wife's car, down in Florida. Around 10:00PM I was able to grab a set of cables from another neighbor. Then we had to figure out the shift lock on the contractor's dead Explorer before I was able to move the Explorer to edge the Ranger around it.

But eventually, my Ranger jumped the dead ass Explorer off, and I was thankful for the auxillary lighting on my truck to illuminate the scene!

Turned out my HCU and PCM had to be replaced. All is good now. Don’t know why they both went out about the same time. Hope to get some answers soon. :fingerscrossed:

I have done that before. I have a friend in Prineville Oregon with 20 acres. No normal running water so we have to do the same thing but with 2 containers. It's a PITA but has to be done. He has 3 horses, 2 pigs, 20 chickens and ducks, 3 dogs and 2 cats and a very large greenhouse. They all need water which most people take for granted. I might have forgot some too. LOL. Electricity is from a windmill plus generator and solar panels. I love there place but I am spoiled and prefer to have running water, electricity, natural gas and stores close buy.
